I stayed near Kingoro Izakaya years ago when my mother passed away in Okinawa and decided to revisit. They had my absolute favorite gyoza dumplings in tonkotsu ramen soup... it was sooo YUM!
Local Okinawan crowd on a Sunday night.
Drink Menu is Vast!
Good Menu... they specialize in Gyoza but unfortunately the menu changed a bit and they no longer serve dumplings in very tasty tonkotsu ramen soup... so sad.
Of course Hoppy! The Hoppy is a non-alcohol beer and the glass has shochu. One bottle can get you about 3 glasses. Mix about a third of the hoppy into the shochu.
Fried Gyoza.
Sui (boiled) gyoa.
Unfortunately
THen my friend ordered this item... oh my.
This is normally made with really stinky fresh squid but in Okinawa it was cow intestines with little pieces of hot green pepper. It was a bit too overbearing for me. Had to pass.
Of course had to have some Din Tai Fung style steamed dumplings.
The menu shot: White or Black bottle of Hoppy with a glass of Shochu set for 450 yen. Then refills of shochu called "Naka" for 250 yen. Just say "Naka Kuh-dah-sai" for a refill.
250 yen to refill the glass with shochu... they will keep pouring until you say stop but I normally don't until the waitress starts to glance at me but by then its almost 3/4 full! Gotta get that value! Friend said normally people stop at 1/3 full... blah.
