I pass by this Hope-Ken ramen frequently but can never be lured in while sober... I usually save these super fatty oily broth ramens for after a long night of drinks.
1st floor is all standing counter seating... popular with Taxi cab drivers who park just outside and run in for a quick bowl of ramen.
Rule for ramen... its not always about the toppings so push the top left corner button for the standard selection. 750yen is all mine.
2nd floor has alot of counter seats and one booth in the far end.
Mix of construction workers (2020 Tokyo Olympic Stadium is being built across the street), elderly lady, mother n daugher and a few elderly guys.
Free Negi (Japanese onion) toppings.
Garlic if u like
The ramen is brought up in a small elevator shaft from the 1st floor.
Char Siu pork all rolled up.
On the 2nd floor there are 2 elderly employees. One guy seemed new... guess we gotta do what we gotta do to make a living.
Here we go! Its topped with a thick layer of fatty oil. This oil helps maintain the temperature of the soup... was mostly used for delivery ramen so the customer can enjoy a hot bowl at home.
Lots of fatty chunks...
This is similar to Ramen Jiro or Ramen Dai but the flavor of the soup was quite light... not a heavy thick flavor. Don't think I will be craving this anytime soon.
Overall its a nice clean ramen spot but once is enough for me.
They fixed the pig neon in April 2018!
