YOKOHAMA: Motenashi at Hama-Yokocho Restaurant Reception for Foodie Bloggers!

Motenashi was featured on TV!

Mari sent me a link a few weeks back about a special event for foodie bloggers to wine and dine at a brand new restaurant complex in Yokohama.  Why not! I think I've earned $4.50 since December 2009 with Google-Ad-Words and finally this blog might actually treat me to a tasty meal.

And so we arrived to Hama-Yokochou at 1pm... we had 2 hours to eat anything in the complex.

We did a bit of research before arriving.  And it was MOTENASHI!!  How could we pass up the "Carefully Selected A5 Wagyu Sirloin Steak"!?  The other shops were interesting but we just had to start here.

The Drink Cocktail menu was Massive! They had EVERYTHING!  A few pics of the drinks we tried.

Great Bartender/Owner hard at work in the Video:

Few menu shots of the drinks we ordered:

My absolute favorite was the "Horse's Neck." Went for 2!  The twisty lemon and light sweet flavor with just a touch of alcohol was perfect for a hot afternoon.

There it was... the 2,200 yen (USD$25) A5 Ranked Wagyu Sirloin Steak and also 1,450yen Wagyu Cubed Steak...

First the A5 Steak arrived... it was soooo tender... we each had one slice each (about the size of index and middle finger put together).  It went down too quickly.

The Cubed steak had more of a tough texture for those who like chew a bit.

The daily special 900yen Abolone was sooo fresh.  Only a few slices but the girls loved it.

We had 2 salads and both very tasty.

This was probably my favorite dish of the night.  The Banyacalda Dip was addictive...

The staff hard at work... The bartender/owner was the friendliest guy.

We had so much food... here we go~.

And the final two dishes to top off the meal!  A5 Wagyu Steak and Garlic Rice! YUMMM!!!

Wait... we didn't forget to order 2 Cheesecakes and a Black Sesame Seed Ice Cream!

We spent our full 2 hours eating so many great dishes at MOTENSHI that we missed the 70-80's live band at the 3rd floor bar.  Would have been nice to relax after such a big meal but the show ended...

We didn't venture into the all the different restaurants at Hama-Yokochou http://hama-yokochou.com/ but Motenashi http://hama-yokochou.com/motenashi.html was a great spot.  We loved every dish and the service was super friendly... they didn't bring us a few dishes we ordered but I guess they were still in newly-open training mode.  Mari said the prices of the cocktails were very reasonable compared to Roppongi (I'm more of a beer guy) but the food seemed a bit pricey for the open casual atmosphere.   I would definitely go again as you can walk around tasting the different foods the building has to offer.  If you are in the Yokohama area and can't decide on a place to eat you MUST check this spot out... lots of choices for everyone in one location.
