YURAKUCHO: Andy's Shin Hinomoto for an AMAZING 5,000 yen dinner course! Everything was sooo delicious and friendly staff!! (iPhone 12 Mini)

The last time I met my MBA classmates was pre-covid and one guy 10+ years! Timing wise one flew in from LA, another from Jakarta and there are a few working in Japan that I rarely see.

The choice was Andy's Shin Hinomoto under the train tracks in Yurakucho.  Ive known about this place for forever but never ventured inside assuming it was a tourist trap.

Let the 5,000 yen food course begin! Drinks are separate. Started with a nice Salad.

Rather spacious!

Yum... Butter fried asparagus.

Then pan fried scallops with lemon and spicy sauce... Siracha?

The boys!

Sushi Platter!  It was slightly devoured before I could get a proper photo. But sooo fresh!

I started this blog in 2009 and boy have I aged!  Me and my MBA classmate Tony... honestly one of my best friends. He has always been so super cool to me.

White buttery creamy soft fish... I absolutely love this but its one of the most expensive types of fish you can buy at the supermarket.  YUM!!

Chicken wings filled with GYOZA!  I have only seen this at a few Izakaya's in Japan.

Jumbo Shrimp? Prawns?

Sweet grilled fish! I was sooo full buy this point.

These guys are all doing so well in their careers.

Udon!  Oh man... Im so glad they served this last as all the delicious stuff came out first.

So many signatures on the restroom walls... unusually spacious.

This is Andy! He was so cool.  Will definitely be back!

If in Japan and you needed to select just 1 Izakaya to go to... Andy's is the place! Great variety of food, staff super friendly and the atmosphere was so cozy. GO GO!!

YURAKUCHO: Hokkaido Dosanko Plaza for addictive Roy's Chocolate Covered Potato Chips!

If you want anything Hokkaido then a visit to Hokkaido's Prefecture shop in Yurakucho is a must...  There is always a line for Hokkaido soft cream ice cream.

Though I have a sweet tooth I don't normally introduce sweets on this blog... but this is just one exception.

Yup, it always sells out quickly but managed to score a box.  Its chilled in an open refrigerator...

Oh...yeah thats a brochure for the Pentax K-01... not sure if you know but nearly all the pictures on this blog are taken with the Pentax K-M (K2000).  Time for an upgrade!

Purchased on 3/20 so looks like there is about a 3 week expiration perios for the chips.... but honestly I usually finish this box in one sitting... ugh.

There you go.  The chocolate is very soft and will easily melt in your hands.  Texture of the chips is a bit thicker than the normal (Pringles, Lays) chips and has a bit of a chewy hmmm....texture?  Anyways I've been addicted this for years a frequent gift for my friends back in the US.  If you love chocolate an chips then this is a MUST try!

GINZA: Yumimachi Ginza Tamariya-Hachi... Random lunch but unaware of the high foodie ranking

When out of ideas in Ginza just head off to a tall building that usually houses several floors of restaurants... on this day I visited Ginza Velvia-Kan (http://mi-mo.jp/lng/eng/velvia.html

A great restaurant layout with several seating options... counter seating near the entrance, tables, then on a higher tatami level counter seating surrounds the chef hard at work then in the very back there are 4 tatami seating tables... http://r.tabelog.com/tokyo/A1301/A130101/13101416/dtlphotolst/3/

Ordered the "Nikomi Hamburger Teishoku" 950yen.  In Japanese "Teishoku" meals normally come with the main, salad, soup, rice and drink.

Free tea comes with the meal.

Very tender hamburger with a very rich sauce that seemed to have been heated to a slight thickness... very heavy and tasty.

Although I ordered the Hamburger Teishoku the daily special grilled white fish seemed to be a very big hit.. So if you go with someone I'd suggest one person to try the fish and share.

But I actually only ventured into this spot because one of my all-time-favorite spots sold out of their lunch... http://tokyobelly.blogspot.com/search?q=arossa.  Anyways this place had a very high foodie ranking of 3.73pts... guess dinner is well worth a try!
