NERIMAKASUGACHO: Soup Curry Taki for their Saturday bar night... cozy and clean. (SONY RX100)

Back in the day this was the location of Hawaiian Bar Ohana but the owner got too busy with his main career and his son took over reinventing the place as a lunch only Soup Curry restaurant.

Bar just started opening only on Saturdays... some appetizers.  There is really no food in the evenings.

Draft beer 600 yen.

Cozy booth but there is also a long L shaped counter.

Overall its cozy.... the staff was chatty and loud as balls and was quite hard to talk to my accountant friend about inheritance taxes in Japan.  I think maybe they were excited to be opening at night...  But I spoke to the curry chef and seems spice is the main lure for lunch goers.

TOKYO: MATSUYA Beef Bowl Franchise for a friendly 330yen Curry Rice and Miso soup combo~

Walked past Matsuya and noticed a pic of curry... and in the details it came with a bowl of Miso Soup all for a very reasonable 330yen.

Regular size and Large size options... no toppings for this selection.
If you like toppings check out the menu here:

One man operation...

Lots of great salad dressings.

They serve Breakfast too... a rare sight in Tokyo.

Curry had a nice hint of spice and it wasn't watery... they must have stewed vegetables inside because there were thick portions in the curry.  Hit the spot.

Matsuya's are located all over Japan so if you spot one why not give it a try.

View of the annual Jingu fireworks this evening...

ROPPONGI: Go! Go! CURRY... Ro-su Katsu hit the spot for a late night meal.

Seem to have replaced my late night Ramen cravings with Curry lately... Just steps away from Softbank on the Roppongi Crossing.

Lots of topping options for your Curry!

As always in Japan if you get confused then select the very Top Left corner item as it is usually the shop recommended dish (normally seen in Ramen shops).  So went for the 700yen "healthy class" Roast (Roo-Su) Katsu Curry.  http://www.gogocurry.com/menu.html

Looks like Roo-Su Katsu is the best seller!

Simply place your ticket on the counter..

There it is... volume was more than enough and came with a side of cabbage.

Free topping usually seen at Curry shops. Has a nice crunchy texture (similar to a fresh carrot).

All counter seating...

Think it beats CoCo Curry hands down in terms of volume and price so if you see this giant Gorilla in Tokyo why don't you give it a try~...  http://www.gogocurry.com/shop.html

AKASAKA: En Curry Shop... enough spice and kindness to make things at ease.

Highly ranked with great reviews... had to give this friendly curry shop a try.

Arrived at 1:30pm and missed the lunch rush... only counter seating.

Pictures of all the items on the menu except for the daily special written on top.  Seem's everyone on the foodie website recommends the Gyu-Suji-Nikomi-Curry Rice...

900yen Curry lunch set comes with a cup of seaweed miso soup and small salad with a hint of spicy salad dressing...

And there it is... fairly spicy curry with very tender pieces of beef.

Some classic old school Japanese tunes on the BGM...

Very friendly staff and a nice afternoon lunch... it won't stuff you but the atmosphere and service was great.

And... if you are in the Akasaka area and a fan of exotic cars I'd recommend checking out BINGO Sports for a view of the Bugatti Veyron.
