NERIMA: Agarico Restaurant serving Gyoza and Ethnic food! Very cozy L shaped counter seating with friendly customers. (Sony RX100)

Due to coronavirus I haven`t really hung out with friends or colleagues for dinner... often try to drop by a place that's welcoming to lone diners.

Shop recommended "osusumeh" items. 

This night popped into a rather popular gyoza spot very close to Nerima Station.  A very youthful 20-30 something crowd. Almost all women this night. 

250 yen automatic appetizer (Oh-toshi) was Beni-Shoga (red ginger).  I often see this as a topping on Okinawa Soba but the flavor is a bit too strong for me.  Mentioned to the owner/chef I probably wouldn`t eat it... so he asked if I liked seasoned boiled egg! Sure!

Thats more like it!  My boiled egg on a bed of negi. 

The perfect beer food!  Tiny gyoza`s that hit the spot... can`t recall what the dip was but I liked it.

Moved on from Draft beer to my favorite Bottled Beer. 

Bought a round of drinks for the workers and few ladies at the counter.  Overall a very friendly spot and so easy to chat up everyone at the counter.  If alone in Tokyo give this place a try!

For the price of McDonalds you can enjoy home made Chinese Pork Buns and Shumai!  First time to visit Tezukuri (hand made) Tenshin Mata-Asahita (see you again tomorrow).

Shrimp dumpling 90yen.

When you get confused go for the most popular meat shumai! Only 75 yen.

The Niku-man (Steamed Pork Buns, Bao Buns, Baozi) and Anman (Steamed Azuki Buns) were 198 yen.  

Also had standard gyoza and boiled-gyoza.

Super meaty!  Flavor was on the light side.  The breading around the meat was very heavy and had a great chewy texture. 

Shumai super meaty... 2 bites and all gone. 

About the same price point as the cheap McDonalds menu items and definitely feel less guilty eating the fresh home made items.  If you are in Nakano Broadway and need just a little bite definitely give this place a try!

YAMANASHI: Hottarakashi Onsen with direct views of Mt. Fuji and tasty grape icy soft cream! (Lumix TZ60)

Had a chance to tag along with a friend to visit Hottarashiki Onsen in Yamanashi Prefecture... unobstructed views of Mount Fuji from both the food benches and outdoor onsen. 

Do you know what Hottarakashi ほったらかし means in English? Its something like left alone or uncared for... Like when someone doesn`t care about their yard and lets it do whatever.  The area around the outdoor onsen hot springs sure did need a weed wacker. 

Didnt notice any English buttons so brush up on your Hiragana!

Of course! Yamanashi is wildly popular for their grapes and had to get the Milk and Grape mix soft cream! Japanese Lesson:  牛乳 (Gyuunew - Milk) と(To - and) ぶどう (Budou - Grape) のミックス (Mikkusuu Mix). 牛乳とぶどうのミックス！

This was more of an icy ice cream rather than creamy like those sundays at McDonalds.  Was very refreshing... and the waffle cone so tasty!  400 yen a must!

Snow capped Fuji-san!  

If you are here for the onsen its 800 yen for adults... don`t forget to bring both a bath and body towel! The very thin towels were rather expensive.... 1000 yen and 200 yen.

Just a short Taxi ride (about 2300 yen, 2.25 miles) from Yamanashi train station.  Oh soooo very unusual but this place allows Tattoos... Maybe the yakuza don`t frequent the place or there is a large inbound tourist fan base.

There is also a Hottarakashi Camping area nearby too! Normally camping sites don`t have shower facilities so just hop on over to the onsen.
