SAKURADAI: Ramen Mishima... Tasty shio ramen with a very friendly Ramen Chef.

Although between station Ramen Mishima is highly ranked on Tabelog... neck and neck to Ramen Jiro, Hagan and Maruyoshi. After a night of all you can eat Yakitori, stop at a TacoYaki spot we really needed something very light... and I finally made it to Mishima.

The Chef recommended the Blue (shio ramen) or the Purple (Fish based shio ramen).  The red button is "Men no oomori" (large portion of noodles) for +100yen.

No Smoking! Nice!!

For Oomori (large portion of noodles) its +100yen.

This is my Shio (salt) Ramen... very clear soup broth, super light and just enough flavor to hold you over.  We arrived on a full stomach and anything heavier would just destroy us.

Instead of the usual pork slices I think this was chicken...

My friend ordered the fish based shio (salt) broth ramen... much more flavorful than mine and more to my liking. The color was so nice.

Our Chef was incredibly friendly and chatted us up during our time there.  He trained at another shop for 10 years and opened up his own shop 2 years ago but never realized that he was in the battle grounds of ramen shops that is Sakuradai/Ekoda/Nerima.  We have Hagan, Jiro, Dai, Maruyoshi and so many choices in the area... but his menu always has limited time ramen flavors that seems to keep everyone returning.

EKODA: Takoyaki Akinai... 10 yen Chu-Hi Drink!

This is a tiny little Tacoyaki spot in Ekoda facing a big Pachiko Parlor.  I've walked past it countless times but it just never peaked my interest... but this night after having an all you can eat drik Yakitori dinner my friend wanted to check it out.

At the entrance there is a bit 10 yen Chi-Hi drink sign... 2 please!

6 pieces start at 400yen... 8 for 520yen and 10 for 640yen.

Omutako, yakisoba, etc.

L shaped counter seating.

This was my shio dressing Taco Yaki.  The outside was nice and krispy (thinking its extra crispy because there was very little traffic into this restaurant).

My friends Sauce topped Tacoyaki... standard.

The 10 yen Chu-Hi!  Filled with sooooooo many ice cubes.  Only took a few sips to finish this.

HIGASHIFUSHIMI: Ramen Igosso... Chef studied at Ramen Jiro Mita Branch... hmm...

The chef here worked at Ramen Jiro's main branch in Mita before opening his very own shop.  The place is really in the burbs and the nearest station is 700 meters away (HIgashi Fushimi).  So on I bike I followed my friend to Ramen Igosso

Ramen starts at 600yen (+100 for Omori).  Very similar to Jiro you can ask for extra boiled veggies, garlic, fatty lard and karame (heavier flavor).  But as you can see this was bathing in a really large amount of clear oil!

After a few bites the soup was just so flavorless... no impact at all.  Veggies were boiled extra soft and noodles thinner than Jiro.  It just wasn't great... compared to Ramen Jiro's monster 650yen ramen this place totally disappointed.  My ramen connoisseur friend mentioned the flavor has gone downhill from his last visit.  Anyways it was a full house during the short time we were there. Oh, tsukemen seemed to be a hit here.

Cherry Blossom season is coming to an end... so sad.
