NERIMA: (CLOSED) Hanaichi Ramen... Super friendly Single Mother Ramen Chef :) ** New Location is at Nerima-Kasugacho Station 東京都練馬区春日町4-18-8 **

In search of a great ramen spot in Nerima and came across Hanaichi via the Nerima Ramen Rankings...  Hanaichi is from the chef's daughters name "Hana-chan."

Free tiny ramen and juice for kids below elementary school...

Free ice cold tea

L shaped counter seating and in the back there is a small section with tatami style seating... noticed a few mothers with little kids in that area.

Slowly I started to notice little hints that the female ramen chef probably owns this place... Heart shaped toothpick holder.

Wasabi Charsiu Bowl looked tasty

Two basic Shio choices... Ramen or Tsukemen.

There it is! My 680yen Shio-Ramen...

Melty charsiu that is grilled with a flame thrower thingy

You have the option to order "Hoso-men" (thin noodles) or "Futo-men" (thick noodles).  I'm a huge fan of chewy think noodles...

You can upgrade the amount of noodles for a few yen.

Overall this place was just so friendly and warm... the chef was so extremely polite, the ramen had a great rich flavor and just felt like I was eating ramen with made with love.  I'll definitely go back to support my very first ever female ramen chef spot.

Ramen shop was featured on TV (8.7.2013)

At one time this place was operated as a husband and wife team but two years ago they got divorced and the wife took over the ramen shop. http://ramen151e.blog71.fc2.com/blog-entry-472.html

NERIMA: HyakuRakuMon Chinese/Taiwanese Lunch... friendly friendly.

Chinese! I never eat Chinese... mostly because every Chinese lunch I've had in Tokyo has been very very mediocre at best... but its always very cheap.

580yen Lunch Menu...

Noticed a few people ordering the Cha-Han fried rice...

A very cozy restaurant... elderly ladies, salarymen and later on joined by 4 postal workers.  AND They have booths!  Thats so cool... hardly ever see this in Tokyo.

Service by the Chinese waitress was super friendly... all smiles.

Lots of recommended dishes are picturedd.

There it is! 580yen Lunch...

Hmm... not very flavorful... hmm... The soup kinda tasted like sink water... hmm...

The best thing was the almond jelly dessert.   I probably won't ever return here again but if you enjoy a nice cozy atmosphere with a friendly staff then give it a try... Oh, smoking is allowed during lunch.

HIGASHI NAGASAKI: Sekizawa "Mon & Pop" Shokudo for One-Coin Teishoku... wow cheap!

Happened to make the long trek to Higashi-Nagasaki on the Seibu Ikebukuro line to check out highly ranked Cest Bien's "hamburger steak" lunch but it wasn't on the daily menu today... so decided to look for another spot and happened upon another highly ranked mom and pop Shokudo.

I'm a huge fan of one coin "500yen" lunches.

U shaped counter seating inside...

I stepped in a few minutes after their noon opening.  It was just so very old skool and lots of famous autographs along the walls.  One old guy making all the food and there were 2 mama'sans assisting him... all very polite with "irashaimassen" and "arigato-gozaimasu" ringing about.

Self serve water at the entrance.

The 500yen lunch included a large rice, miso soup, veggies and a huge block of tofu...

Then my menchi-katsu showed up... nice and crispy on the outside and super hot as it comes out freshly made from the oily pit.

There were easily 25+ items on Teishoku menu and everything was under 500yen.

Cost performance was very high and a place that probably see's very very few foreigners... give it a try!  If you get lost just ask for the "One Coin Teishoku" but a few guys ordered the "Katsu Curry."

KOTAKEMUKAIHARA: I am lottery winner! AnRakuTei for some free Bibimbap... lucky me.

Well... maybe I'm not too special but won 1 of 15,000 free bibimbaps for Anrakutei's "Kirameki" Lottery.

BUT! There was a catch in the fine print... I had to order 1 item off the menu.  Kimchee was 380yen... Drink Buffet (Sodas) was 280yen... and wait... Belgium Chocolate Ice Cream 210yen!

Regular price for my Ishiyaki (Hot Stone) Bibimbap was 819yen... sweet.

Free water!

Special sauces.

My Bibimbap came with seaweed soup too... sweet.

Nice hot metal not stone bowl... food came out sizzling.  Overall everything taste better free but would I order this at this restaurant for regular price? Nah... it just wasn't that special.   I'd hit up a Korean spot in Akasaka for this vs a franchise yakiniku restaurant.

Later came some free hot tea and free pineapple... plus my 210yen choco ice cream with chunks of chocolate!

They gave me a 1,000yen coupon that can be applied to a 5,000yen+ bill and a piece of candy.  Oh, I arrived at 9:15 on a Thursday night and the place was deserted except for one couple.
