My favorite budget combo spot Gyoza-no-Manshu? NOPE!

Tonight it was a new spot called Osaka Ohsho... another super famous Gyoza franchise.

Wow 500yen Gyoza and Beer set! Tax inclusive chat!

This signed totally lured me in...

Super nice touch panel ordering system. 

Lots of food photos lining the walls.

Gyoza prices... 1 person portion 290 yen, 2 portions 580 yen, 3 portions 870 yen...Normally you would think the more you order there would be a slight discount but never in Japan.

My 500 yen Gyoza and Beer set!  Beer usually 540 yen and Gyoza 290 yen. 

830 yen value for 500 yen! Thats a really nice deal. 

Mix a little shoyu, vinegar and spicy red oil to your liking.

Compared the Gyoza no Manshu this place has a bit more garlic and the pot sticker wrapper is thinner.... I say its a bit more crispy too.  Great with beer for sure!

There were so many cool oldies on the BGM! The Flame by Cheap Trick!

I was chatting up the chef and said I often goto Gyoza no Manshu but he said they serve gyoza that is frozen rather than fresh! Wow I never knew that!  I think this place wraps their own gyozas daily? 

Chef gave me a handful of free gyoza coupons! Normally you get 1 coupon per 1 gyoza order and its good until January 31st!! Super cool chef.

I closed out the restaurant! 10pm!  Overall what a wonderful clean spacious restaurant to enjoy a great 500 yen combo deal. Plus the 80s music on the BGM was just super relaxing.  WILL BE BACK!!

Oh the waitress was super friendly too.

HIGASHI NAGASAKI: Sekizawa "Mon & Pop" Shokudo for One-Coin Teishoku... wow cheap!

Happened to make the long trek to Higashi-Nagasaki on the Seibu Ikebukuro line to check out highly ranked Cest Bien's "hamburger steak" lunch but it wasn't on the daily menu today... so decided to look for another spot and happened upon another highly ranked mom and pop Shokudo.

I'm a huge fan of one coin "500yen" lunches.

I stepped in a few minutes after their noon opening.  It was just so very old skool and lots of famous autographs along the walls.  One old guy making all the food and there were 2 mama'sans assisting him... all very polite with "irashaimassen" and "arigato-gozaimasu" ringing about.

The 500yen lunch included a large rice, miso soup, veggies and a huge block of tofu...

Then my menchi-katsu showed up... nice and crispy on the outside and super hot as it comes out freshly made from the oily pit.

There were easily 25+ items on Teishoku menu and everything was under 500yen.  

Cost performance was very high and a place that probably see's very very few foreigners... give it a try!  If you get lost just ask for the "One Coin Teishoku" but a few guys ordered the "Katsu Curry."
