HOYA: Tonpu Yakiniku? Nope it was Hormones! Not a fan but got invited by a friend I gifted Okinawan Goya to. (Sony RX100, iPhone Xs)

I have this huge Goya Plant in my yard and its been really fruitful this year! Gave a few to a good friend of mine and he invited me out to try out a Hormone Yaki spot in Hoya. Shop is called Tonpu 豚風 （トンプウ）which means Pig Wind!

Sometimes its better to get a full bottle of Shochu rather than ordering individual glasses.

3 selections of Kimchee assortment 720 yen... the seasoning has such a great balance of spicy and sweet. 

Namuru! Spinach was so finely cut and super soft. Almost had a fluffy texture.

The menu... Yeah, I wouldnt normally order this.

There were Yakiniku options like Kalbi on the menu but my multi-millionaire friend is so budget conscious... I kinda left hungry and rather drunk off the Shochu. 

Anyways on a Monday night we were the only one there. Waitress was very attentive and the atmosphere very nice here.  If you are looking for Yakiniku or Hormone Yaki in Hoya give it a try!

This solo Yakiniku Like franchise has been booming since Covid... dine alone in social distance was a huge headwind for their quick expansion.  FINIALLY I MADE IT!

The free stuff posters were plastered all over the entrance and everywhere... so overwhelming.

Was either going for the Pork Bara-Kalbi 591 yen or...

The Gyu-Suki Yakiniku 655 yen... Ok I splurged and went for this! Later to regret

OK now for the beef review.  Grilled it normally... super rubbery.

Then grilled it on the verge of Burnt but still super rubbery!  This beef was like eating a piece of rubber... it was just sooooo bad.  Should have went with the pork. 

They had about 5 different kinds of sauces.

Sukiyaki Egg... yeah... beef was just so bad I didnt really dip it in here.

Got me some free Seaweed soup and mini kimchee refill!

More Rock! QUEEN buddy.

A little Green Day... think they play this kind of US rock to keep people from hanging around too long. Some of the songs were very heavy metal

Looked up to my right and this poster! Its 60 minutes all you can drink Lemon Sours and Hi-Ball!

This original Furikake was sooo tasty... yum. 

Last order is 10:30pm and I closed the shop down.  Overall the staff was very attentive, the freebies came out within a minute and the cozy solo counter seats were very nice.  BUT! The sukiyaki beef was honestly terrible... Definitely don`t order that!  Will try to go again for the pork.

FYI You All! Paypay is having a 30% cash back for Suginami-ku area!  My yakiniku set was 720 yen and got 216yen back. December 1-20th... 30% is huge! You can even buy Liquor at Kakuyasu!!
