EBISU: Les Pieds Nus: Soothing range interior and Beef Cheek was melty tender.

I had an opportunity to enjoy a great French meal over a business meeting with two cool headhunters.  The director recommended this little French spot just moments from Ebisu Station.

Daily lunch special menu was vast... so many items to select from.

As you enter there are counter seats along the right facing the chefs at work and to the left was table seating.

The small 2nd floor entrance was very decieving as we were led to the back thru a small hallway opening into a very cozy back room.  If you want to dine discreetly this may be an option for you.

Bread arrives... I was struggling to tear this apart but we all love bread.

I went for the French Onion Soup Gratin as the appetizer.  Nothing special here... But I did notice something very nice about this spot.  Even though it we were there only for lunch the shop wasn't worried about hurrily getting us out to increase turnover.  The quietly checked on us frequently to see when he should bring out the next dish.

My Soft Wagyu Beef Cheek with in wine sauce arrived.  Portion was small but it simply melted in mouth.  You could definitely break this up with chopsticks it was so tender~.

Closed with nice duo selection of desserts... a tar with lots of fruits and a mango/coconut cake.

You can close with Coffee, Hot Tea or Iced Tea.

A very comfortable soothing orange atmosphere, perfect service and a great lunch menu selection... I will definitely be back for lunch again. OH!  And the majority of lunch goers were WOMEN... this is the best indicator to how the good food.

GINZA MITSUKOSHI: Les Rosiers-Eguzkilore... Nice lunch served by an odd waiter who drinks customers leftover wine.

Invited to a great restaurant on the 12th floor of Mitsukoshi Ginza (New Building)

All course menu's.  Each item and its ingredients are carefully explained by the waiter but ours just kept going on and on... quite lost by the end of his presentation.

We both went for the 4,900yen "Eguzkilore" Lunch Course...  But there was something that bothered us off the bat... Paying nearly $75 USD per person (with an additional glass of wine) you would assume the staff would attempt to smile and provide amazing service but our waiter seemed like a guy straight off the streets of Akihabara.  A bit dorky, sweaty, suit oversized and well he just didn't fit this atmosphere... a very odd guy (wait til the entry ends where he drinks our remaining red wine).

Foie-gras soup

Crab appetizer... part way we decided to switch appetizers and my crab setting came with a knife.  When I did this the waiter noticed and proceeded to give my friend a new knife... the thought was nice but he reached over her food (cuffs nearly touching the appetizer) as she was eating to place the knife next to her.  This guy was just simply clueless... Lack of training from management is all I can say.

We both went for the went for the Japanese beef filet... very tender.

A tiny strawberry shake is provided after the meal to clear your pallet.

Highlight of the meal was selecting 2 among the 12 different tea's.

Overall enjoying a meal is partially the company you are with, the atmosphere, service and quality of food but this place was such a mismatch in Posh Atmosphere and Service.  The one thing that turned me off was when the waiter took away our wine glasses before the desserts arrived... there was just a sip of red-wine in one glass and as he entered the kitchen he actually drank it!  We were seated right next to the kitchen entrance with a clear view of this.  It was just a very odd thing to see at a place that charges between $50 - $120 per person for a lunch Course.

The greatest thing about course menu's slow pace that allows for great conversation with your fellow diner.  But I'd highly suggest you go elsewhere to share this special time over a meal that should have been simply perfect at USD150+.

SHIN-NIHONBASHI/KANDA: Cul De Sac 980yen Roast Beef as see on TV! BUT all beef no Smiles.

Another entry on my list of restaurants to try after watching one of my favorite Sunday after noon shows Kings Brunch... lunch segment featured a giant slab of Roast Beef for a reasonable 980yen!  Finally made plans and gave it a go!  As you can see in this picture (shot of one of the waiters) the staff never smiled... just glared at you.
The ONLY thing served for lunch is Roast Beef so they'll just ask if you would like Coffee or Tea after your meal... quick and easy.  In and out for 980yen.

Nice bottle of tap water...

One slice per lunch goer... nothing special here and no pleasant refills.

Salad was great... first time to see couscous mixed in.

And it arrives!  Nice chunky piece of Roast Beef...

Overall Cul De Sac's roast beef was simply just a hunk of meat... I assume its hard to find roast beef on a regular basis and most of us in Japan go bonkers for it... but at the end of the day it was simply a slab of meat that really didn't stand out.  Tenderness or flavor was not consistent throughout... perhaps its a quality issue.  I didn't have the urge to lean over and eat my friends Roast Beef either... doubt I'll have cravings for Cul-de-Sac's beef anytime soon.  But eh... for 980yen it was a deal.

The best part of the meal was this banana chiffon cake! Fluffy, moist and baked to perfection.

After lunch earl gray tea followed to close the meal.  Think there was something special about this tea... one of the female lunch goers asked for the brand.

Some outside seating...

We were seated outside so no shots of the interior but you can click HERE.  The two Chefs were too busy checking out my friends breasts to say the traditional "irrashaimasse (welcome)" as we entered and staff never smiled as they assisted us thru the entire meal.  Overall service kinda sucked and roast beef just too mediocre to merit another visit.  If you want a stunning Roast Beef Lunch then please give Fortnum & Mason a try in Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi... that was perfection.
