GINZA MITSUKOSHI: Les Rosiers-Eguzkilore... Nice lunch served by an odd waiter who drinks customers leftover wine.

Invited to a great restaurant on the 12th floor of Mitsukoshi Ginza (New Building)

All course menu's.  Each item and its ingredients are carefully explained by the waiter but ours just kept going on and on... quite lost by the end of his presentation.

We both went for the 4,900yen "Eguzkilore" Lunch Course...  But there was something that bothered us off the bat... Paying nearly $75 USD per person (with an additional glass of wine) you would assume the staff would attempt to smile and provide amazing service but our waiter seemed like a guy straight off the streets of Akihabara.  A bit dorky, sweaty, suit oversized and well he just didn't fit this atmosphere... a very odd guy (wait til the entry ends where he drinks our remaining red wine).

Foie-gras soup

Crab appetizer... part way we decided to switch appetizers and my crab setting came with a knife.  When I did this the waiter noticed and proceeded to give my friend a new knife... the thought was nice but he reached over her food (cuffs nearly touching the appetizer) as she was eating to place the knife next to her.  This guy was just simply clueless... Lack of training from management is all I can say.

We both went for the went for the Japanese beef filet... very tender.

A tiny strawberry shake is provided after the meal to clear your pallet.

Highlight of the meal was selecting 2 among the 12 different tea's.

Overall enjoying a meal is partially the company you are with, the atmosphere, service and quality of food but this place was such a mismatch in Posh Atmosphere and Service.  The one thing that turned me off was when the waiter took away our wine glasses before the desserts arrived... there was just a sip of red-wine in one glass and as he entered the kitchen he actually drank it!  We were seated right next to the kitchen entrance with a clear view of this.  It was just a very odd thing to see at a place that charges between $50 - $120 per person for a lunch Course.

The greatest thing about course menu's slow pace that allows for great conversation with your fellow diner.  But I'd highly suggest you go elsewhere to share this special time over a meal that should have been simply perfect at USD150+.

NIHONBASHI MITSUKOSHI: Fortnum & Mason roast beef revisited!

Its 10:55am WTF!?!  So I have this Korean friend that said the only kind of TV shows in Japan are all about food... Cooking Drama's, Cooking Shows (SMAPxSMAP), programs featuring ramen rankings and of course the ever so popular nightly TV News spots that feature great little restaurants...

...anyways I gave up on this delicious looking Oedo-Tendon for 880yen...cause that line was ridiculous~... There were no salarymen in that line just a bunch of folks that watched the same TV show that featured this restaurant.

Anyways if you want to go here are the details.  I'll be back when things calm down.

So decided to walk across the street to Mitsukoshi for some...Roast Beefu!

Old dude chilling in front of the Xmas window displays...

Yeah, it was only 11:10am so the hordes of housewives and elderly couples had yet occupied the place.

Free water!  Saw little things floating in this...hmm...

When they hand the menu to you just put your hand up and say "Roast Beefu Lunchi Kudasai."  1,200yen plus 60yen tax and you get a coffee or tea with the meal.  I'd definitely get the dessert set for a +210yen.

There it is... Salad, 2 kinds of hot bread, whole bunch of green peas, potato fries, radish and beef!

NIHONBASHI MITSUKOSHI: Fortnum & Mason Lunch... ROAST BEEEEF!!!

I have yet to find any really great Roast Beef in Tokyo except for one instance at Oguna Bares in Nakameguro... but I think my search is over in B2 of Mitsukoshi Department Store in Nihonbashi.

Lunch Menu... was torn between my love for Curry and the Roast Beef... Mari said the beef was excellent... didn't need much more convincing than that.

Lunch sets arrive with a choice of coffee or tea (hot or iced).

Oh yeah...1,260yen lunch set.  The volume!  Salad, horse radish, 2 types of bread, boatload of green peas and 3-4 rather thick slices of roast beef.

This roast beef was perfection... an absolute must if you are craving it.

Mari closed with a Chocolate Cake... friendly grandma peeking over at me taking pics.  This place was around 80% senior citizens... and 95% old ladies.  So be prepared for a little staring if you are a foreigner.

My great Apple Pie.  The waitress will bring a dish full of desserts to select from... must have been about 10 or so items.  Just point and pick.

Location: Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi (Mitsukoshi-Mae Station).

NIHONBASHI: EATALY for Italian Gelato and Napoli Pizza

Just can't pass up Italian Gelato... I believe EATALY has its main Japan branch in DAIKANYAMA but there is also a smaller outlet in Nihonbashi MITSUKOSHI for light shopping, gelato and pizza.

3 Gelato's in a cone/cup for 550yen.

But our main motive was 2 wines (red, white, sparkling, rose) with Italain "Otsumami" (finger foods?) that included bread and proscuitto ham on a bed of salad and tiny tomatoes.

I think this deal was only from 5-8pm... Mitsukoshi closes at 8pm.

Very casual interior bordering the EATALY grocer.

Just couldn't resist one Napoli Pizza.  Tomato sauce was sweeter than most Pizzeria's in Tokyo.
