HIROO: Salsita Mexican... Images of reasonably priced food ain't here.

I'm always been wary of going into Mexican restaurants without some kind of pre-set meal/drink course plan because the bill is always a shocker for mediocre Mexican food in Tokyo.

Let me share the bill with you first.... In the US how often are you met with a 38,900yen (USD$500) for seven people?

November food specials/

Salsa and chips 600yen

Small portion of Guacamole Dip and Chips 900yen... don't Avocado's go for 100yen in the supermarket?  I can't ever recall paying this much for a little dip.

Jalapeno Bombs were a hit... hot!

Cactus salad was a first for me in Tokyo.

Chorizo Taco's...

Taco Topping...

Carnitas Tacos... weak... these chefs need to visit LA's amazing Taco Trucks.
800yen ($10) for 2 pieces.

Small glass of Mojito 900yen.

Mexican Rib Eye Steak 2,100yen.

Of course we had to have at least one shot... Prices ranged from 900-1200yen!  Dude...

I really don't know what to say but if you are an Expat living in this area with a generous cost of living allowance this is probably a good place to take your family... atmosphere was clean and colorful and the clientele seemed to consist mostly of foreigners.  Perhaps this is why they can get away with charging unusually high prices for event the most basic items.  I was a frequent user of the Ebisu location until it shut down but I won't be back here again... Cost Performance was just terrible.  If you are craving Mexican in Tokyo then just head on to reasonable LIBRE http://libre-burrito.com/ .

EBISU: Tsukumo "99" Ramen... sold out of the Hokkaido Cheese~

I had been out for nearly 12hrs... Wedding chapel at 3pm, Grand Hyatt Tokyo reception dinner from 4-7:45pm, after party for bride/grooms friends from 8-11pm... then a final bar for those still left standing til 3am... what a loooong day.

Decided to head over to try some Tonkotsu ramen topped with Hokkaido Cheese but it was sold out!  Oh well....  http://www.tukumo.com/topping/9.html

Free toppings...

Very spicy seasoned bean sprouts

No smorking!  Most excellent... The yellow sign lists options that will alter the standard ramen if you like.  Hard//Soft noodles, Heavy flavored soup or light and alot or a little fatty pork oil.

Only 650yen and hit the spot...

3:30am and I was just too tired.  The staff is extremely friendly and it had been a very long time since my last visit but they remembered me...

If you are in Ebisu and want some standard ramen that will please everyone then give Tsukumo a try!  Friendly staff... budget ramen... can't go wrong.

EBISU: Ta-Im Israeli Cuisine... Falafel and Hummus Lunch!

Randomly came across Ta-Im while I was searching for Hummus online via http://www.timeout.jp/en/tokyo/venue/9775/Ta-im

Of course! A-Lunch with Falafel and Hummus. Drink is an additional 100yen but the ice tea cup was so tiny... just stick with water unless you want coffee.

Small Isreali gifts.

All counter seating inside... these 3 seats faced outside both others face the kitchen area so you can see the chef at work.

Lunch dishes will come out slowly... soup, hummus and pita bread (can get more for free) came out.

Very smooth Hummus... oishii.

Then the hot fries arrived...

Then this tiny thing came out... later I heard it was olive oil, cilantro and jalapenos.

The tiny falafel balls arrived to close the meal... crunchy on the outside.

And finally my lunch was complete... as you can see I was workin on the Hummus but wanted to get a pic of everything you get for 980yen A-Lunch.

Located on the 1st floor of this apartment building.  The staff was very friendly. Waitress was an older Chinese lady that went out of her way to provide great service... and the Chef was all smiles.  Definitely hit the spot if you are craving Hummus... Located in between Ebisu and Hiroo station.
