EBISU: Standing Liquor Shop/Bar JOLLY`s! Super friendly regulars and the owner was hella awesome! Mix of JP and Foreigners. (Sony RX100, iPhone X)

So hard to recall pre-Covid but I think I may have had a beer at Jolly`s years ago. BUT this night was the Aloha Festival in Ebisu Garden Place so decided to check it out with my friend Hiro.

Huge fan of Coozies... especially the Daiso version.

Several large frigerators in the entrance area with a huge selection of Japanese, craft beers and imports.

500 yen Sapporo Red Star was all me!  Huge bottle usually retails for 330 yen at the supermarket.

Of course Modelo reminds me of Rigoletto back in the day... had one too.

Modelo for me and friend got the Patagonia beer.

SPAM Musubi!  Aloha

Free Wifi.

I think there was only 1 person working here on this Saturday night.

In the back there are a few standing tables.

I was chatting up a regular and he ordered a bottle of white wine... offered me a glass!

The Owner and generous regular local to Ebisu.

Kanpai! Chilled White Wine!

More friendly folks... The Japanese drinkers were a bit easier to talk to vs the foreigners.  Think Foreigners are more clicky and tend to only talk amongst themselves.  Many English teachers this night.

Im was on someones Instagram Reel! After 4 bottles of beer and few glasses of wine I totally don`t remember this pic.

I leave you with a posh Ferrari California and Porsche spotting!

EBISU: MeshiDokoro Gotsuchi?... Cozy counter seating with very inexpensive teishoku (plate lunch) options! (Sony RX100)

This photo was taken after closing time so the menu`s are covered up by the shutter.

Only Japanese here.

600 yen Daily Special... It says in Japanese ありません meaning we don`t have any.

Quite the large kitchen.

When we initially walked in the chef was fairly busy and the ventilation here is kinda bad... you will definitely smell of smoke. But as the customers left it got much better near closing time.

700 yen bottle of Sapporo Red Star! My Fav.

Seasoned tofu and slices of tender pork.

Friend ordered the potato salad.

Potato corokke and Aji-Fry.  Nice and crispy on the outside.

Closing time they took out all the bottled beers from the mini fridge and transferred into the walk in frig.

Little sink at the entrance to was your hands. FYI there is no toilet here so you`ll have to walk about 2 minutes to the local park to pee.

Nice little are exhibition by French artist Toscane next door... The color of hair blends into the background.

EBISU: Aburidori Baricho... aka pleasantly smokey Yakitori!

Back in the day I lived in Ebisu for about 4 years and enjoyed searching for new reasonable spots and years later I was pleasantly surprised to see Aburidori Baricho still open with a solid 3.53pt foodie ranking.

Menu's in English!

Order's are taken on this little piece of paper of items written in Japanese... but it will test your J --> E Skillz.

All you can eat cabbage Otoshi arrived... this is great.  Normally otoshi consists of something so insanely boring like seasoned bean sprouts or a bit of potato salad.

Portions were a bit larger than my last visit to Gonpachi Shibuya

Liver...

Of course... my favorite Bonjiri (Chicken Butt)... big pieces.

I'm not a fan of Nankotsu (fairly hard cartilage) but this was a bit more soft and there was so much meat on it... If you are not a fan you gotta try it here.

Closed with a stick of mochi.

Shop was a really really smokey mess... they closed the front door due to the cold evening and well we all smelled like Yakitori by evenings end.  I guess that might be part of the attraction here... Full house and a small mix of foreigners too.

Free Popsicle of choice for dessert.

Oh, there are baskets to store and hide your jackets away from the smokey smoke.

I'll definitely be back again but highly suggest their 5-7pm Happy Hour too... can't recall what the drink deals were but hey, we all love HH.  Oh, staff was friendly and beers came out quickly.
