IKEBUKURO: (REVISTED) Nan-Tai-San Yakitori friendly counter seating and view of the chef!

This is just a great spot that's been around for years and has a steady following of regulars.

Seasoned Carrots are one of the specialties here... never had it anywhere else.  And raw liver with sesame seed oil was tasty.

My previous entry:

I think this was one of the original founders that passed away.

This older gentleman with the hat sat next to us and we all started talking... he was first talking with the guy to his left but preferred chatting with us and later he'd invite us out to his favorite little mama-san bar.

Yakitori Garlic... very soft.

Another friendly customer to my right.

Its almost impossible not to meet friendly customers from a different era at these old skool Japanese yakitori spots with counter seating.  Afterward we all went to our new friends favorite watering hole that he's been going to for over 30 years.

A little Karaoke and whiskey... another great unexpected ending long day in Ikebukuro.

Tsukemono by Mama-san.

The tiny foods at a mama-san "snack" bar... just something.

Goodnite!

IKEBUKURO: 24hr Isomaru Seafood Izakaya for 1,000yen All-You-Can-Drink :)

In Ikebukuro at 2pm after a great bowl of GROWTH Ramen and with the sun blaring we were looking for some beer.  I can't ever recall drinking in the afternoon except during Hanami Season (Cherry Blossom season) at the park.  This 2hr 1,000yen all-you-can-drink banner caught my eye... looked at my friend... he looked back at me... no questions asked we headed inside.

All you can drink menu.

The special is normally from 5-7pm but they said it was no problem to start at 2pm.  Only rule is you need to order one plate of anything per person.

299yen per person will automatically be added to your bill and you get this starter.

If you are in Tokyo and craving seafood this is probably a great fresh spot to hit up but the local foodies don't quite agree with a lowly 2.89pt ranking

Craving the Tekka-Maki (Tuna Roll) but for 699yen it was a bit too much vs other shops.

They have flavored Whisky Hi-Balls... or just regular hi-balls.

Very spacious interior.

Order #1... salty seasoned cabbage

Order #2... baked garlic fish.... and thus we fulfilled the all-you-can-drink food requirement.

Great sake.

Mix of blue collared workers and younger people at this hour.

The staff of young ladies were very very friendly... think most were college students.

Also serve lunch here: http://www.isomaru.jp/lunch/

The food was a bit pricey for what you get but interior was spacious and design pretty cool.  This franchise has recently expanded all around Tokyo . Unsure if I'll drink so early in the afternoon again but if I do this will be a spot I'd revisit for sure!
