SHIMBASHI: Tahara Family Style Restaurant... this floor will take you back to 1945 Japan.

The New Shimbashi Building was built in 1945 and houses many many tiny little restaurants.  Nearly half were closed as the owners aged and nobody took over their shops... 2 more years left until this building is demolished and rebuilt.  A must visit!

Located next to the SR Train in Shinbashi Station.

Everything is nicely pictured.

Todays specials.

Menu in the back of all the different kinds of fish.

The staff was all Chinese and extremely friendly to all the customers.

880yen for my lunch fish set.

If you are in the area and want to slip back into time then go!  Also there is a floor dedicated to massages (lots of Chinese and Thai girls here), old skool arcade games shops and adults toy shops too.

GAIENMAE: Sakura Sakura Izakaya finally got a pic of all the 1,000 yen fish lunch selections!

I never know what the fish I order at sushi or fish restaurants look like but at Sakura Sakura you can pick which one you like!  Have it as sashimi, salt baked or boiled in seasoning... but better yet half and half!

The lone chef.

We arrived at 11:35 and by 11:45am this place was packed! 1 Chef trying to prepare over 10 fish.

Extremely popular with salary men and you can get extra rice for free too.

GAIENMAE: Sakura Sakura Izakaya for a whole fresh fish! Half baked and half served as sashimi for 1,000 yen!

I frequently walk past Sakura Sakura and its always crowded during lunch... now I know why.
The waiter will bring out a try with 6 types of fresh fish and you select how you want it made.  Sashimi, Shio-Yaki (baked with salt) or Nikomi (seasoned in sauce).

This fish was 1,000yen with all the side dishes included.

I went for the 1,100yen fish half sashimi and half shio-yaki.

It was such the perfect balance... rarely do I have sushi for lunch.

Recommend you to go before 12 because it fills up quickly. Oh I noticed cups of sake from 800yen to 1,200yen... very expensive!  Just go for lunch!

And on my way home a very very rare sighting... Red Enzo Ferrari!

IKEBUKURO: 24hr Isomaru Seafood Izakaya for 1,000yen All-You-Can-Drink :)

In Ikebukuro at 2pm after a great bowl of GROWTH Ramen and with the sun blaring we were looking for some beer.  I can't ever recall drinking in the afternoon except during Hanami Season (Cherry Blossom season) at the park.  This 2hr 1,000yen all-you-can-drink banner caught my eye... looked at my friend... he looked back at me... no questions asked we headed inside.

All you can drink menu.

The special is normally from 5-7pm but they said it was no problem to start at 2pm.  Only rule is you need to order one plate of anything per person.

299yen per person will automatically be added to your bill and you get this starter.

If you are in Tokyo and craving seafood this is probably a great fresh spot to hit up but the local foodies don't quite agree with a lowly 2.89pt ranking

Craving the Tekka-Maki (Tuna Roll) but for 699yen it was a bit too much vs other shops.

They have flavored Whisky Hi-Balls... or just regular hi-balls.

Very spacious interior.

Order #1... salty seasoned cabbage

Order #2... baked garlic fish.... and thus we fulfilled the all-you-can-drink food requirement.

Great sake.

Mix of blue collared workers and younger people at this hour.

The staff of young ladies were very very friendly... think most were college students.

Also serve lunch here: http://www.isomaru.jp/lunch/

The food was a bit pricey for what you get but interior was spacious and design pretty cool.  This franchise has recently expanded all around Tokyo . Unsure if I'll drink so early in the afternoon again but if I do this will be a spot I'd revisit for sure!
