IKEBUKURO: Sushi Uogashi Nihon Ichi standing sushi restaurant... super busy! (SONY RX100)

Craving sushi all week and headed off to Ikebukuro to give Sushi Uogashi Nihon Ichi a try!

If you are a foreigner the chef will ask you right away if you need an English menu.  I think most of the sushi orders come in 2 pieces.

Your sushi tray is a pretty big leaf.

Arrived around 10:20pm and last call is about 10:50pm...

Grilled salmon and toro.

Always have to go for the Akami maguro... yum.

If you need wasabi just ask.

Guy next to me ordered this so had to try.... think its toro topped with grated potato or raddish.

Ika squid!

The chef that was serving my corner.

One big mistake foreigners often make is that this green powder isn't wasabi... its green tea powder.  There is a little push button hot water spout on the counter so just mix away.

Overall the pieces were smaller than most sushi restaurants but because the high turnover everything seemed to be so fresh.  Had placed an order for negitoro but it never arrived... asked the chef about then he added another order to my receipt.  Gotta be wary as many restaurants are now charging foreigners extra for certain dishes because most tourists don't question the bill.  Occurs mostly in Shinjuku Kabukicho area.
