Out with with a newly engaged couple... gotta bring myself date next time.
My buddys fiancee picked out this izakaya thats highly ranked on Tabelog.
Finally someone who drinks nihonshu! Love this stuff but very few of my friends drink it... they all stick to imo-jochu (shochu) like Kurokirishima.
From beginning to end one old man was chopping away at fish.
Appetizers... mushrooms and green beans.
Full view of the fish being baked.
This massing metal stove hood was dangling from the 2nd floor ceiling.
1st time ever! Heated Fugu sake! It almost tasted like fish soup. Was way too hot for me so passed this along to the fiancee.
Late addition... On Christmas Day I found this!
You can actually buy the Tora Fugu fins at Seijoishi Import Supermarket for 498 yen!
Metal pot heating up the atsukan sake
Restroom was private.. only 1 person at a time and had a rare 2 fixtures.
Yup he was still chopping away at the fish. If ever in Nakano you gotta check this place out. Seemed very historical but I can only assume they only have Japanese menu's as no English was offered to me. So study a little kanji or bring along a bilingual friend to help you out.
