OIZUMI GAKUEN: Bar Figaro for some wine and darts in the burbs

Where to go on a Sunday night in the burbs?  Why not Bar Figaro for a bit of wine and darts?

In the US we get peanuts or popcorn... in Japan we get kakinotane~.  There is a table charge of 300yen.

Counter seating, tables with regular chairs and also leather sofa seating.

Went with my childhood friend and pilot... Wines were about 3,000yen each.

They have a Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/BarFigaro

Darts were 100yen per game.

Friendly staff.

Overall it was a nice and quiet place to play some darts over wine.  The least expensive beer was Carlsburg on tap for 600yen then it went up from there for bottles.  If you are ever in the burbs and in need of a place to chill check out Bar Figaro~.

OIZUMI GAKUEN: Akeshi Izakaya... Super hometown Japanese cookin!

Its been a long time Akeshi but we are back for some great Japanese family style Izakaya foods!

Entered and it was a full house fully booked with reservations at 6:30pm... but but sheer luck someone called in to cancel this corner spot away from all the smoke and noise.  Perfect for a family with small ones.  Parked the stroller next to the table and here we go~

Rarely see yellow Oshibori's.

Remember if draft and bottle beer is the same price always go for the bottle.  I drank with a few beer distributors and they never ever drink draft... flavor changes.

Instant Otoshi

Chicken wings with gyoza stuffing... perfect beer food.

Sliced maguro but still frozen in the center... hmm...

Pork

Fried oysters

And of course we always order the giant Flounder 580yen.

Closed with some Tofu nabe... flavored like sukiyaki

One more dish to completely fill us up... Yaki udon.

This is definitely a great place and having talked to the owner years ago he pays his monthly rent with 2 days of sales... thus he's rolling in the money every month.  He was missing tonight from his usual drinking spot... yup, you'll find him drunk most of the time.  Very very reasonable prices for great Japanese izakaya foods.

OIZUMI GAKUEN: Kushi Gocchi standing bar... 2 man crew.

I've always been curious about this tiny little Kushi/Yakitori spot in Oizumi.  To close out the night we decided to pop in and check it out.

A very friendly yet very motley crew of regulars this night... one large heavy lady who looked like she has been in the hostess industry for years, an older lady who was plump and a bit worn down, an older guy who dressed a bit too young missing a few teeth... just a very random mix.

Red wine is only 230yen... if anything the items here were cheap!

Automatic ootoshi... potato salad.

50yen egg.

Very very huge pieces... kinda like supermarket size.

My favorite at this spot... Buri-sashimi.

Liver..hmm... a bit dry.

Potato with butter... 150yen.

Last order will hit before Midnight...

Overall this place was so cheap and the service friendly with a woman in the cooking area and a guy taking orders chatting up the regulars.  A perfect spot if you are with friends on a budget but perhaps on a Friday or Saturday the clientele is less motley and more interesting...
