Company bus trip to Yamanashi prefecture for wine tasting and bbq!

Lots of different kinds of meats but most were rather tough... so I just stuck to the veggies and local craft beer that was really good.

Cooking was done on what I think was a slave of lava rock....

Overall a great team building day trip to Yamanashi... Its only about 1.5 hours from Tokyo.

SHIINAMACHI: Torishiyou Yakitori take-out... lots of choices but stuck to my "bonjiri"... chicken butt!

Love these old school Yakitori stands.

1 stick of bonjiri is 110 yen. 

Here we go... bonjiri just right. Crispy on the outside and kinda tender on the inside. 

Definitely needed me a beer,

SENDAGAYA: Beautiful Savoy Pizzeria across from the Tokyo Olympic Stadium! Very spacious comfy counter seating.

I often walk from the office in Aoyama to Yoyogi for a bit of exercise and spotted the brand new Savoy... took half day off on a Friday and headed on over.

This golden oven is awesome... wood chips and blocks sit in a box used for the fire.

Savoy always has a great 1,000 lunch deal... drink, salad and pizza of your choice.

Free refills on the peach tea.

Salad dressing spot on tasty... hints of onion and garlic maybe?

The Chef!  He did something very curious... opened up a pizza dough box with about 3-4 dough balls and then threw one of them into the trash.   Then resumed to use one for my pizza.   I can only imagine these pizza dough's were heading near expiration... very odd.

Here it is!  Marinara pizza... this 1,000 yen beats Domino's Pizza medium size cheese for the same price all day long.   Dough was perfectly chewy and it did hit the spot. 

My view from the counter seating.... Olympic stadium!  A party of 4 came in after I was almost finished with my pizza and their pizza dough out of a different wooden box seemed so soft and fresh.  Hmm... Can only assume this place has more Uber Eats customers than walk ins. 

Overall its really not worth the trek to this Savoy as its kinda in the middle of nowhere.  I would suggest either going to the Azabu Juban branch or even better a shop opened up by a former Savoy Chef Yamaguchi-san called Freys Famous Pizzeria
