DAIMON: Ushi No Kura (1,000yen Yakiniku Lunch)... good stuff!

Met up with Mari for lunch at Daimon... whats there to eat in Daimon/Hamamatsucho?
This was probably the best lunch I've had in the area.  1,000yen for Yakiniku lunch with Kalbi beef that was amazingly tender.

Lunch comes with Salad, small selection of veggies, rice, miso soup and drink.

I tried the Rossu and Kalbi Mix.

Mari went for the Kalbi... the quality of beef was excellent.

Chef in charge of the beef.  Weighing each piece.

Lunch Menu. 1,000yen plus 5% tax.

Overall excellent service, great food, very little yakiniku smoke and amazing value at 1,000yen.

GINZA: Manneken Belgian Waffles... very delicious waffles! Give both Chocolate topping and Plain a try.

I've passed by this MANNEKEN shop for years and just kept going.... a few weeks back I decided to buy a few tiny waffles... ho!  These little guys are so tasty and have a chewy quality.  Missing my Eggo waffles back in the US but this sure does hit the spot.  Notice a light sweet glaze around the waffles... yum.

Located on the opposite corner of Mitsukoshi or Nissan Showroom.

YUTENJI: Savoy Pizzeria

I love a great Napoli Pizza and when I get lazy I find myself at the neighborhood Minshyuku Savoy.  Its actually the least tasty of the 3 Savoy's in Tokyo (Roppongi or Azabu Juban) and I usually regret going because I always leave unsatisfied.  Maybe its because there is no Spicy Olive Oil to help the flavor along...hmm...  Anyways if you are ever on the Tokyu Toyoko-Line and happen to get off at Yutenji Station its about a 10min walk.

3 Choices for the weekday lunch menu. (Click to enlarge pic).

I went for the 1,050yen Salad/Pizza set. No drink or dessert included at this Savoy.

NAKAMEGURO: Kushi-Wakamaru Yakitori... English Menus! Great Yakitori.

If you want to experience a little old school Japan with an English menu then give Kushi-Wakamaru a try.  The atmosphere is very cozy with neighbors just a few inches away.  I'd suggest calling in to make a reservation even a few hours before hand otherwise the wait can easily exceed 1hr.  There was a nice mix of Japanese and foreign customers.

Tiny fish on grated daikon will automatically arrive first.  Put a little shoyu to taste.

Cut for your Yakitori sticks.

Best to make reservations but if you don't try for 9:30pm... there was a line outside from 8-9:30pm (our reservation was at 8pm with around 10 people waiting outside at the time).

The special's menu only in Japanese.  Ask your friend to translate before going~... might miss out on something non-Yakitori related.  (Click pic to enlarge).

SHIBUYA: 喜楽 Kiraku Chinese Ramen...

What to do on a cold rainy Tokyo day?  Mari suggested a famous Ramen shop in Shibuya.  Its in a very interesting part of Shibuya... just walk along the left side of Shibuya109, you'll pass the new Uniqlo Shop, a few adult shops and the ramen shop is on a side street with a cluster of Love Hotels.

View from the 2nd floor window.  Yup, to the right is a clear view of visitors to hotels during the day.

We both ordered the 650yen "Chuka-Men" Chinese Ramen Noodles.

Shoyu base with fried garlic chips.  Very mochi-mochi noodles...

Chinese staff in the Kitchen.  We went around 3pm and managed to sit straight away but you'll definitely line up during lunch/dinner.  If its busy you'll share a table with other ramen patrons.
