SHIINAMACHI: Oguro-no-Maguro prices have increased by 100 yen on some popular items. Due to Weekend 長崎神社 祭り Festival? (Sony RX100)

Friday evening and in the feeling for a plate of Sushi!

Totally recommend the 400 yen fresh lemon sour 400 yen and the sake refill is 250 yen.

A whole lemon at the supermarket is usually around 100 yen.

The menu was newly handwritten with some popular items such as 3 varieties of Sashimi up 100 yen and Rare Tuna Katsu also up.

Think they revised the menu due to the weekend Nagasaki Shrine Festival.
In Japanese 長崎神社 祭り

But the special tuna box remained at 299 yen.  Only 1 order per person.

The San-Ten-Mori had some huge cuts in it this night.   Really thick and meaty.

The seared Chu-Toro was my favorite.

Of course my favorite 199 yen grilled Tuna Onigiri.

There is seating and a restroom on the 2nd floor.

Looks like they are stocking up for the festival.

There were only a few guys dining around 8:30pm on a Friday night. My drink, tuna grilled onigiri and sashimi platter came out to 1,298 yen.

OIZUMIGAKUEN: Sushi MaruTatsu... but the wrong branch!

After a great evening at the 妙福寺の御会式 festival in Oizumi my friend Kenta and I were off to close out the night with some Sushi.

This is part of a great 3 shop family of Sushi/Seafood restaurants in Oizumi and the one I absolutely love is http://tokyobelly.blogspot.jp/2011/12/oizumi-gakuen-maru-tatsu-revisited.html but unfortunately we wandered into this one.

L shaped counter seats.

The otoshi... automatic appetizer... believe it was seasoned tuna.

Always good to dine with a fellow camera buff... I'm usually the only guy snapping away at everything.

The tuna was cold... I don't think they this frozen tuna thaw properly before serving it.  Impression was lackluster and it shows in the very low 3.00 foodie ranking.  http://tabelog.com/tokyo/A1321/A132103/13114977/

Yes this is me.

I won't be back but it sure is a nice option to eat sushi after a long night of festivals.

TSUKIJI: Daisada 100yen Egg Stick (3 Cubed Varieties)

I'm a sucker for a line and when I hear regulars talking to the owner then I'm in.  This day my love for Japanese sweet eggs cause that 100yen to pop out.

Egg comes in 3 little cubes.  One with greens (can't recall what it was), second was the traditional egg and third cube had little baby shrimps in it.  Came out chilled but other than the uniqueness of 3 varieties on a stick there really wasn't anything special about this.

The guy running the spot said they have been in business for 80 years and asked why he was so fluent in English... seems he studied in New Zealand.   If you've ever seen the documentary about Michelin 3 Star Sushi Jiro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukiyabashi_Jiro)it takes an apprentice 10 years to properly make an egg so I posed the same question... He said it take a Chinese part-timer 1-2 days to make it.  An so the 80years he had previously mentioned lost its luster... I won't be back but if you want to chat up someone in Tsukiji give this place a try.

A must watch.  Story about Sushi Jiro.

Oh, the shop is on the end of the block housing these 2 extremely popular sushi shops... Oedo Kaisen-Don (Rating 3.33) http://tabelog.com/tokyo/A1313/A131301/13045427/  and Naka-Ya (Incredibly lowly  Foodie Ranking 2.91) http://tabelog.com/tokyo/A1313/A131301/13007610/.  Unsure why these 2 places are so popular with Asian tourists.

ROPPONGI: Gatten Sushi revisited for their 130yen Chu-Toro!

The ONLY place I've ever come across that has Chu-Toro for only 130yen... you will rarely see this for less than 300yen.  Just a quick visit~...

Menu in English too~

There it is!  Chu-Toro for 130yen but 280yen Otoro is ver reasonable too.

Otoshi~...

Ordered a beer but unfortunately they stopped that very heartwarming group Kanpai that was just so welcoming... video in my previous post.

Started with 5 pieces of Otoro~.

First time to see a gray haired Sushi Chef... usually at that age you'll see them with their own shops.  But very friendly guy.

Always a favorite Zuke-Makuro (soy sauce soaked tuna).

Night ended with a free glass of Sake courtesy of the 2 ladies sitting next to me... both Dentists having dinner on a Saturday night.  Yup, you'll always meet interesting people at the sushi counter.
