SHINBASHI: Stand Shinbashi for their Okinawan style Sen (1,000 yen) Belo (Tipsy) deal! Carlsberg and everyone friendly! (Sony RX100, iPhone X)

Check this photo out... a rare shot with my iPhone X.

Had to kill a little time with a friend in Shinbashi and of course I'm a huge fan of Senbelo deals.  In Okinawa its 3 huge drinks and 2 appetizers... In Tokyo only 2 drinks and an appetizer of the day

Only beer option was Carlsberg.  Glass was incredibly tiny.. oh well.

Only 2 options for appetizer.. Home made curry (sold out) and this seasoned raw shrimp and pork?

I could only eat one... it was a bit too fishy for me.

Now for my 2nd drinks.

Shochu with soda.

200 yen to buy the staff a drinks! .  In Japan regulars often buy drinks for the chefs.

Free Gatcha food item if you write a Google Review. They also have free wifi and outlets.

Overall the staff and regulars were so friendly... Counter seating for 6 and two small tables for 4. Restroom was spacious and very clean.  Give it a try!

SHIMBASHI: Uokin Piccolo... a little treasue in the side streets amongst all the clutter that is Shimbashi

This is just a quick informative update as I wasn't at the restaurant long enough to enjoy many dishes.  After noticing a HUGE line at Its My Italian Pizzeria nearby I had to find a spot quickly for a quick dinner date... and while wandering the corridors of Shimbashi I happened upon Uokin Piccolo.

If you know Shimbashi then the word UOKIN will ring a definite bell.  They have some amazing Seafood and French shops in the area and all are incredibly reasonably priced.  Daily Specials menu here.  Oh, this spot had an incredibly high foodie score of 3.86pts.

Ordered the 580yen patte camagnyu and bird liver terinyu... yeah my spelling has got to be way off.

Over 50 white and red wines to choose from.

Drinks... the wine and champagne come in regular glass drinks but the 580yen beers...

Arrive in tiny plastic cups... didn't quite expect this.  Guess its the low quantity high priced booze that allows for lower price points on the food.

Don't bother trying to wander inside unless you are very lucky as I was to get a seat for a limited 1.5hours.  Highly recommend a table for small groups or better yet if you are on a date the counter seats face the chefs at work... always a preference for me.  Some interior pics http://tabelog.com/tokyo/A1301/A130103/13130774/

SHINBASHI/GINZA: Kurafuku Uokin Branch... fresh seafood at an amazing value!

While working at CLSA (steps away from Shinbashi) one of the foodie assistants suggested Uokin in Shimbashi for both Japanese and French food... tried the French and it was amazing... now had to take the visiting boys to the Japanese shop... but there are so MANY!

As usual in Japan the Otoshi (automatic appetizer that comes out if you order alcohol... usually @300yen per person).  This was well worth whatever they added to our bill... tasty pork I think.

The Menu!  Unfortunately it was only in Japanese so bring a friend along to help if you can't read it.

Chefs right behind our table hard at work...

Waiter recommended the Anago fish... a long fish similar to a Unagi but lives in the sea.

There it is! Topped with shiso and ume... Robert loved this but it was a bit too fishy for me.

Next it was the Famous Sashimi plate that we saw almost everyone ordering!

This thing was soooo big!  A little bit of everything for everyone... great value and fresh!

A big fan of cooked fish head!  Kinmedai (Golden Eye Snapper, Alfonsino).

We managed to pick out all the meat in the cheeks and had one volunteer to eat both eyeballs... that wasn't me but lots of Collagen I think.

Our reservation was at 5pm and it was fully packed by 6pm... super popular.

Forgot what this was but there was a very dark green body inside this... pass~.

Closed the night with some tasty Tempura~.

Menu had a great selection of everything.

There are many Uokin's in the Shimbashi area so if one is full give another a try but I highly suggest making a reservation before heading out.  The branch we were seemed very new and extremely clean... tables are small  with a capacity of about 6 people squeezed in.

The boys will definitely be back to visit one of the Uokin branches on their next trip to Tokyo.

SHIMBASHI/HAMAMATSUCHO: Mandala 2nd. Curry Done Right!

New Office, new town...not one to be prisoner of the restaurants in the building.  Checked out Tabelog Shinbashi and I was ready to start exploring.  Mandala 2 was one of the first highly ranked lunch spots I found in the Shimbashi/Hamamatsucho area.  All Indian chefs, service was quick and extremely friendly...

Went for the Butter Chicken Lunch, there are a few choices and one selection for vegetarians.  Now if you ever want to know what a delicious dish of Indian curry tastes like then this is your spot.  Lines start at around 11:50am so I suggest going at 11:40 or around 1pm when the lunch crowd dies down.  But there will be a steady line thru the afternoon.

You can select between mild, hot and super hot curry seasonings, the Nan had the perfect balance of chewy and crispy, and you close with a small yogurt dish.  I seem to find myself here once a week but its definitely
worth it.
