GAIENMAE: Aoyama Asada for a fantastic business lunch... within Hotel Allamanda Aoyama

Love it when foreign executives visit or office especially in the afternoon... in restaurant desolate Gaienmae we have no choice but to visit Asada.  Lucky me.

Course includes sashimi... very firm texture to todays selection.

Little seaweed jelly cube... flavorless.

Don't forget to take off the little color flower buds and put it in your shoyu.

And the main course arrives!  Sukiyaki beef bowl.

Meat was so melty tender... oh my goodness.  Our guests loved this.

Japanese mushroom miso soup with a little tofu.

Pickles!  If you are in the area and need an option for a delicious lunch please stop by! Oh since this was a business lunch I don't know how much the course was but the attentive service by ladies in kimono's and our traditional private room... I'm guessing somewhere around 3,000 - 5,000 yen.

Its about that time of year again.... the ginko trees start turning a full bright yellow.

ROPPONGI: Shabuzen Shabu Shabu Sukiyaki... lots of semi-frozen meat ho hum...

Company diner on my birthday! Headed to Roppongi Shabuzen for half shabu shabu and half suki yaki... plus 120min all you can drink.

This cool looking lobster monster was at the counter... pretty creative!

120 minutes of all you can drink... but this being a business dinner and all you can eat I only managed to have 2 beers.

Friendly waitress taking a group photo to commemorate the dinner.

2 dipping sauces for the shabu shabu (ponzu and sesame) and a raw egg for the sukiyaki.

Half and half!

Dipping sauce for the shabu shabu.

Here is the meat... 1st serving was sliced very thin and in normal portions.

But as we ordered more the pieces started to get huge and thicker... plus many of the pieces were semi-frozen.  Kinda like eating a mini steak instead of thin tender slices.  Hmmm....

Final dish.  They add noodle and mochi to the shabu shabu broth.
Then can add salt, spice or pepper to taste.

Dessert menu in both English and Japanese.

Oh yeah, pudding (custard) with ice cream yum!
Overall the Japanese foodies have given Shabuzen a lowly 3.2 points on tabelog and I fully agree.  There were many foreigners here and groups of men who seemed to be here for business dinners.  The quality of meat was normal, service hit and miss with the staff (younger waitress didn't seem she wanted to be there)...  Honestly I would never dine her if I had to pay and would much rather go to Nabe-zo. http://tokyobelly.blogspot.jp/2013/11/shibuya-nabe-zo-for-fun-night-of-all.html

GINZA: Sugimoto Kitchen for 800yen Suki-Nabe

Everytime I goto Sugimoto Kitchen its always for there terrific 525yen beef bowl but this day it was time to give their Suki-Nabe (Sukiyaki) a try!

They also sell the Black Hair Cow beef bowls to-go but you won't get the extras.

One 800yen Black hair Wagyu Suki-nabe please~...

They will ask if you want orange juice or red wine... 80% of the crowd on this Saturday were elderly ladies sipping on the tiny cup of red wine.

Overall you really can't beat enjoying a bit of Japanese suki-nabe for 800yen but I found the beef to be a bit rubbery... But if you are in Japan on a budget then this place is a must.

Comes with tasty little pickles.

Located in B1 of Matsuzakaya... just look for the huge Forever XXI sign.  Oh, this day I waited about 30minutes in line so just be ready for that as there is only limited counter seating.

And of course... Scuderia Ferrari spotting in posh Ginza.
