KICHIJOJI: Jingle Jangle Hawaiian Dining... Hawaii meets Classic Movie Posters

After hitting up 2 different locations in Kichijoji it was time to find a relaxing spot... Childhood friend Kawika lead us to Hawaiian Dining "Jingle Jangle."

Left side of the entrance there is a tiny table for 2 and further back booth seating for a group of 4-5 people.  Nice and cozy.

Free nuts.

Interior is plastered with magazine cutouts, old movie posters and some hand made decorations. At first it was such an interesting theme but after an hour the interest turned into thinking this place was sooo busy on the eyes.

Had to take a video of the restroom and all the artwork inside.

Garlic Octopus... suuuupe garlicy.

Taco Rice that tasted less like taco seasoning and more like umeboshi seasoning.  It was a nice change... but I got my shops mixed up.  Upstairs is an Okinawan restaurant... shoulda tried something more Hawaiian.

Overall an interesting place with jolly service.  BGM was a mix of Hawaiian and 70-80's Japanese hit songs.

NERIMA-KASUGACHO: Hawaiian Bar OHANA - A little Aloha on the Oedo-Line..

Brand new Hawaiian Bar opened up on the Oedo Line (Nerima-Kasugacho Station)... just 21 minutes from Shinjuku Station.

Daily Hawaiian drinks specials by Bartender/Chef George.

Original surf painting inside by a female artist.

George behind the counter.  Moved to Hawaii when he was 8, went to Mid-Pac and now back in Tokyo sharing a bit of Aloha at this bar.  Felt like I was in Hawaii talking to a local... cool guy.

Primo!  So so smooth.

Light snacks on da house.

A MUST!  Edamame beans sauteed in garlic.

Gin based drink... very good.

Nightly special soup... Minestrone on tap tonight.

Owner behind the counter.  Family was in Hawaii over 100yrs ago... If you want a whisky/alcohol thats not at the bar just let Nakayama-san know and he'll add to the collection just for you.  Great guy...

Quick shot with a few regulars...  Overall this place was so relaxing.  Great local Hawaiian music, interior was so comfortable and there is also a small room with 2 sofa's for a party of 4-6.  I'd definitely recommend Ogo's in Akasaka for dinner but if you want a Hawaiian bar to hang out in then there is nothing better than OHANA.

Kojimachi 31 MT Bldg Lot: Hawaiian Foods YUMMY-E Wagon! LocoMoco with an awesome twist!

Second time I spotted this little Hawaiian truck but lines for other wagons made me veer away and try something else... but Today gave YUMMY-E a chance.
What caught my eye was actually the LocoMoco with a twist... instead of the normal gravy topping this wagon offered Creamy Tomato sauce topping.  Wow... lived and love Hawaii but never have I seen this topping.  One Please!!  Oh, I usually chit-chat with the chefs... friendly lady who loves Hawaii.

And there it is... beautiful creamy orange color.. small chunks of tomato.

The hamburger was nice and round with a good amount of volume... egg semi-boiled (like Onsen Tamago) but what was simply addictive was the creamy tomato sauce... wow.  From start to finish I never got bored and even considered going back to save a plate for tonight's dinner!

The Yummy truck is only in this spot on Fridays but you can check out her rotating schedule HERE.  If you work in the Marunouchi/Otemachi area her truck is at Tokyo International Forum on Wednesdays and Sakei Building on Thursdays.

Lots of great lunch wagons in this lot.  Its located near the New Otani Hotel in Akasaka and in the shadows of Sophia University... but if you work at Macquarie Securities or Nagashima Ohno and Tsunematsu its just steps away.

AKASAKA: Ogo's for Lunch Special! Hawaiian Beef Stew and hidden menu item Ahi Limu Poke

Met one of my oldest friends Shotaro thru a mutual friend (Brenda) over 20 years ago... we both lived in Hawaii so what better way to catch up than at Ogo's.

Ryoji (owner/chef) mentioned that the Spicy Avocado Ahi Poke was sold out but offered Ahi Limu Poke as an alternative... also suggested to try out the day's special, Hawaiian Beef Stew.

Ahi Limu Poke... fresh and just too perfect.

Stew was goooood... no leftovers here.

Plus 100yen gets you a drink and Hawaiian dessert.

Quick shot of the new seating and interior...

AKASAKA: OGO Ono-loa Hawaii... Loco Moco and Poke Combo. (NEW SEATS!)

Back to Ogo's for a combo plate.

Lunch Menu... they just sold out of Mochiko Chicken!  Next time...

My LocoMoco and Spicy Avocado Poke combo lunch (1,100yen).    First time to go for the Loco Moco and there was something distinctly american about the flavor of this burger... brought back memories of being back in the states... soooo good!!  Now if you want to know how good it was try and compare it to all thats wrong with L&L Shibuya's Loco Moco.

Nice spicy kick.

Ryoji got in some new tables and chairs. Place looks brighter.

If you come alone the 3 hi-chair counter seats have expanded to 6 table seats... more space for the lone diners.

For an additional 100yen you can get a drink and Hawaiian dessert.

See you again Ryoji.
