AKASAKA: Ogo Ono Loa Hawaiian Food! Revisited for Poke during Covid19... friendly chef. (Sony RX100)

Been a huge fan of Ogo's for a solid 15 years and just had to revisit as Coronavirus restrictions were eased in Tokyo and restaurants started to follow certain rules to reopen.

I'm always a 2 combo plate with 100 yen drink dessert set! This day it was Kahlua Pig and Ahi Poke!

First time to get served bottle water... and my Hawaiian Plantation Sweet Tea!

I was the only person here at around 1pm.  The chef mentioned due to so many large firms in the area on Telework the lunch crowd has dwindled.

My Plate!

Always love my Hawaiian Poke but seemed a bit on the minimal side this day.  You can check out my previous entries but it was always better when the owner Ryoji made the food.  He as moved back to Hawaii to start another restaurant business.

Macaroni Mac-Salad is always good here!

Huge portion of Kahlua shredded pork!

Kept an eye out for this rainbow!  Its issued to business following Covid19 safety precautions.

The Haupia dessert was sooooo yum!

Overall I am all for supporting small restaurants and if in the area looking for a cozy spot please give Ogo's a try.  The dinner menu will have more Hawaii options!

Nice Toyota Century spotting... this thing costs a little less than a Bentley Flying Spur!

GAIENMAE / AOYAMA ICHOME: Hono Garden for Hawaiian Garlic Shrimp... nope... this isn't Hawaiian.

Always a fan of Hawaiian food done right but my 1,200 yen Garlic Shrimp was met with much disappointment.

It was simply boiled shrimp sauteed with wet onions and garlic... a bit sad.
If they removed the Hawaiian part of it and called it lightly sauteed shrimp with garlic flavor then I can understand.

Ho hum... if you have ever been to Hawaii and had Garlic Shrimp then don't order this.

A video of real Hawaiian garlic shrimp.

But this restaurant has one amazing thing going for it. The head to toe glass windows provide the perfect view of the Ginko Trees that line Icho Namiki Road.

OMOTESANDO: Kaiona Hawaiian Bistro take-out counter for some a late night Lunch Box Taco Rice!

This place has Malasadas!

It was nice to have an option other than ramen or kebab at night... The restaurant area is actually very dark and cozy... might be a nice date spot.

GAIENMAE: Kaukau Cafe burger so good I went twice in 1 week! Gotta support the Aloha

I've passed by KauKau Cafe several times and its almost hidden in isolation. You would never know unless somebody told you about this restaurant or you randomly strolled on by.   By its location I only assumed that it would most certainly mediocre at at best... was I wrong.

There is a nice outside seating area, inside has a few tables against a huge glass wall and also the interior is lined with a long soft cushy bench that extends the whole wall.  Lots of nice Hawaiian artwork on display.

I have yet to find a place that serves a decent Loco Moco so that was a pass.  The breakfast with spam and eggs.... well I can make that at home.  So I arrived at the burger list.  150gram pattys!  Yeah, I'm sold.   It was nice to see the difference between a regular burger and a cheese burger was only 50yen.

Burger arrived with a huge bottle of ketchup and mustard.  One bite and I was very impressed.  The bread had a nice baked chewy texture much like BLACOWS in Ebisu and the patty at 150grams was perfectly chunky.  A giant piece of lettuce, tomato and slice of onion are placed on the plate so you can add what you like.  Oh the cheese nicely engulfed the entire burger... very cool.

I will definitely be back very soon for another burger but perhaps the Loco Moco.  Seems the same huge burger is placed on the Loco Moco too plus you get rice and egg.  I'm a fan!
