AZABU JUBAN: Abe-chan Yakitori Restaurant... they rebuilt the building! Attentive staff! (Sony RX100)

My friends always goto the nearby budget Torikizoki Yakitori spot with everything on the menu only being 298 yen... but after so many years of passing by both the old and newly rebuild Abe-chan it was time to head inside.

Consists of 1F and 2F.

Didn't see any English menu's but did notice a filipina and hapa staff members... I assume there are a few bilingual wait staff here.  No worries.

Sapporo Red Star bottled beer 660yen. My fav.

Motsu-nikomi (Stewed offal).. super tender meat with  tofu. Tasty!

Spicy shichimi seasoning if want a little kick.

Liver... Very flavorful.

The chef at the main entrance.  Might be fun to sit at the counter directly in front of him.

Rice set 320 yen that includes pickled veggies and a light soup.

This little old lady who must own the shop was so incredibly attentive.  Always took away our empty plates and aware of how much beer we had left... Service here was just so spot on friendly.

Yakitori spots continue to use the same Ta-leh (seasoning) for years... there is a pot filled with sauce that the skewers are dipped into.  Seems the sauce has formed a huge black mass outside the pot.

Overall if you are in the area you gotta head to Abe-chan Yakitori... During our 1.5 hours there they only turned away one couple but if you don't mind waiting a few minutes tables open up quickly.  Unsure how big the 2F is but alot of folks did head upstairs.
There is another sister shop nearby called Abe-chan Bekkan with less character... my visit in 2013.

AZABU JUBAN: AW Kitchen 5-5... don't bother, food was unusually bad.

I just didn't get it... the reviews were so great but the food was such a disappointment

We all went with the 5,000yen dinner and drink course. I should of looked more closely at the menu... 6 appetizers? for real?

Now here we go... for a grand total of 15,000yen (3 guys) we start with a little bit of olives in a garlic olive oil dressing.

Few tiny cut up veggies...

4-5 tiny marinated fish.

The Bagna Cauda veggies were so old and so tiny... where do u find such tiny veggies?

Very soupy bagna cauda dip.

The 2 hour all you can drink menu.

Mashed potatoes...

One carrot! Really... for 3 guys? It was just so silly.

2 types of pasta and the noodles for both were still hard... this chef really sucks.

Anyways after spending 5,000yen each I was truly dissapointed with AW Kitchen 5-5... the food just sucked. There are so many better places in Azabu Juban to spend your money... DO NOT GO HERE!!

AZABU JUBAN: Izakaya Ajito... Cheap eats with generous volume!

Got a buddy thats a die hard eat out every night kinda person and he posted a few pics of Ajito on his Facebook page... had to give it a go~.  Its moments from the intersection hidden in a back alley.

Fresh daily specials all at very reasonable prices.

Long counter seating, tables and also tatami seating... seems there is a 2nd floor too.

Chicken Nanba... basically boneless fried chicken topped with Japanese mayo.

Fried Tofu~...

And since it was a very cold December night I had to go for the Oden... lots of tasty stuff inside.  The daikon (white radish) was so juicy and tasty (that round looking item).

We also ordered a salad that was massive... Service was mediocre with no friendly smiles and one of the waiters kept itching himself... hmm...

Its an easy time... I'd have to say this is a spot to gather for friends, not quite a date location.  Interior was rather musty and the atmosphere seemed kinda down... maybe it was the middle aged waiters that didn't seem to enjoy what they were doin.
