HARAJUKU: 600yen Kyushu Jangara Ramen... vs Cup Noodle! Its a close one!

After a few Happy Hour drinks at Harajuku TGIFridays I just had that ramen craving and couldn't resist the large 600yen Kyushu-Jangara-Ramen sign on the way to JR Harajuku station~....

There is usually a line when I pass by this place and at 8pm it was a full house... nice mix of college students, girls and salarymen.

Didn't want anything too filling so went for the very reasonable 600yen Jangara-Ramen.  Oh the service was dead on super friendly!  Everyone said welcome and all smiles... ramen guy even offered an English menu and tried to speak a little English.

Window seat with me and this tiny Snowman.

Red pickled ginger and hot pickled greens... watchout for the greens as just a tiny bit can really spice up your ramen soup and overwhelm the flavor.

There it is!  It was quite different from the "Creamy and Wild" 1,000yen Bonshan Ramen I had in Akasaka... the bowl was much bigger but volume seemed the same.

If you want a nice flavored boiled egg its extra.

Some toppings... fresh garlic, sesame seeds...etc.

Very thin noodles...

Included 2 tiny slices of Pork.

Overall the volume and flavor was very underwhelming... I'd have to call this after drinks beer food.  Its not something you will be craving on a regular basis but the price point was just right.  But honestly I think the 170yen 7-11 and Ippudo collaboratio ramen was just as good as this place... AND if you compare Jangara 600yen ramen to Jimbocho Ramen-Jiro's 650yen monster then you will be incredibly disappointed.

Only a 2min walk from Kyushu-Jangara to JR Harajuku Station.

And only steps from the Harajuku Nike shop... Congrats Barcelona!

HARAJUKU: The Great Burger revisited.... Chili Avocado and Mozzarella

Scored a Groupon.jp for The Great Burger.... 2,000yen meal for 1,000yen that included a drink, salad and plain burger (topping was extra).

This very simple avocado salad was perfect... light oil dressing so oishii.  For our drink option we went with ice cold Heineken on a very hot Tokyo evening.

My burger with Chili and Avocado toppings... additional 150yen for each.

Friend went with a very very cheesy Mozzarella topping (200yen). The bun kept sliding off the burger because of the melty cheese.

Little packets of Ketchup and Mustard just like back home.

My favorite shop for Chili Burgers... If you are in the back alleys of Harajuku pls check it out...

HARAJUKU: The Great Burger!!

Dude... if you need a Chili Fix then The Great Burger is a MUST!  You really can't find a decent bowl of Chili in Tokyo thus no amazing Chili Burgers.  You could try Outback Steakhouse that has an ok bowl of Chili with free hot bread but thats it...and with Wendy's gone from Japan (Zensho decided not to extend the franchise contract) bye bye chili.  Lunch at THE GREAT BURGER in Harajuku is open from 11:30am to a late 4pm.  Everything is 1,000yen with a drink of your choice and tasty potatoes (ask for Oh-Mori and they'll give u extra for free).

I Always hit u the Chili burger... chili is super thick, lots of beans and a great spice kick.  You WON"T be disappointed!  Oh, the BMG plays some cool old country music hits~.
