NAKANO: Bar Delta Rio... Grand Opening! Randomly invited by a Nakano friend (Sony RX100)

Went to my favorite standing sushi spot in Nakano.... then ordered a drink at a great 500 yen standing whisky bar where a person I met months back invited me to have a drink at the brand new Bar Delta Rio!

Whenever a new spot opens people send flowers... lots of orchids here. 

Who orders a Brewdog Punk IPA at a bar... just me. 

So interesting the bar owner had all his liquor bottles on the bar counter instead of a shelf.  

Place had only about 5 seats and totally reminded me of those tiny bars in Shinjuku Goldengai.  Owner super friendly and definitely a great after dinner date spot.  Give it a try!

OKINAWA NAHA SAKAEMACHI: Sakaemachi Bottleneck Izakaya... Intro from Okinawan comedian on TikTok! (Canon S120)

Saw this video from a once very famous Okinawan Comedian that was always on TV in Tokyo but slowly his fame faded... anyways he totally recommended Bottle Neck Okinawan soba because the soup comes out in a kettle!  BUT this night just went for Awamori sake as we were planning to finish with soba at a nearby spot called なかむら屋 屋台そば駅前店 !

Due to corona virus the place was rather quiet

Okinawa Soba 700 yen!  Half size 600 yen.

Orion draft beer 500 yen then awamori choices from 500 too.

Always my goto friend when I hit up Okinawa.... a total foodie. 

This seems like a local favorite... spam with egg! 

2nd Awamori i asked for was something super rare... BE CAREFUL this can be expensive as I found out later! Remember 30-40% proof Awamori sake can taste the same after  a few!  Traditionally  Okinawan sake is all made from Thai rice... 

SEE!  Awamori in Okinawa is served in a huge mug due to the high alcohol content.  Awamori, Water and Ice!  Thats how we do it Sakaba Yui! 沖縄酒場ゆい ハモニカ横丁

Then the bill came out!  4 Awamori and one appetizer for over 5,000 yen!  I suggest not ordering anything rare as they pretty much taste the same to most tourists.  I can buy my favorite bottle of Nanko 720ml bottle of Awamori at Don Quijote for 600 yen!

Definitely have to go back to try the Okinawa Soba.

The Sakaemachi vending machine drinks  are only 50 yen!

KICHIJOJI: Gabunomigokoro OniZori Gorilla Restaurant... brand new but our course was just junk food. (Sony RX100)

I`m all in for supporting brand new restaurants in this era of Coronavirus but my choice this night was really really bad. 

Surfboard in the back... BINGE DRINK aka Gabu Nomi. 

I should have double checked with the waitress regarding the course I reserved over the phone... we were somehow served the least expensive 2,500 yen course. 

Our 2,500 yen course included 2.5 hours of all you can drink.  But it excluded draft beer, shochu, or any of those drinks you would normally have at a bar. 

1st dish was edamame. 

2nd salad on a bed of fried ramen. 

Now I`m realizing nothing on the course I requestd over the phone was being brought out.... No Hawaiian Style Poke, no Korean BBQ pork  samgyupsal... hmm.  This was just a whole lot of fried shumai dumplings.  You can buy this volume at the supermarket for 100 yen.

Only good thing about the watered down whisky hi-balls was the slice of lemon.

French fries... really?  All junk food.

Karage... this was just not getting any better.

Closed with pineapple flavored fried rice... just too sweet. 

2.5 hours of drinking watered down Hi-Balls and I just had to get in a nihonshu to close out the evening... they didn`t even offer dessert. 

This place was soooo warm that our bilingual waitress was a sweaty mess... DO NOT GET THE 2,500 yen course as it was just so junky.  BUT definitely explore all the very cheap menu items and cheap alcohol... remember you will be a sweaty mess plus the AC above our table was constantly dripping.  I will not return.
