KICHIJOJI: Torikizoku Yakitori! They have 3 branches in this town... very quick and friendly staff here! (Sony RX100)

Out with two smart Pharmaceutical guys... what better place to start the evening than budget friendly Torikizoku that doesn't charge a otoshi fee (table charge with mini dish).  

Back in the day everything was 280 yen... all 298 now.

Took out 2 cameras this night... Shot with Sony RX100M1

Shot with my trusty Lumix LX5... 24mm so wider field of view but the Sony sure is incredibly sharp. LX5 might be more wrinkle friendly.

My all time favorite.. yakitori with wasabi topping.  Wasabi is a bit sweet and spicy.

The seasonal chicken V's... bit dry.

Ordering is all done by this very heavy tablet... but several language choices including English.

The restaurant was very clean and they had 3 restrooms... mens, ladies and mix-use.  If you need to check your hair goto the mix use restroom that has a sink and mirror otherwise you are in full sight for the shared sink/mirror.  Anyways its a no brainer... nice J-Pop on the bgm and so cheap.

HIKARIGAOKA: Kalbi-Ya Yakiniku Restaurant with a very stripped down value meal... really not a deal. (Lumix GM1)

What no smoking! Sweet... but in a smokey bbq shop?

Rode my bike to pick up some of my favorite Arrabiatta sauce at Yama-Ya and on the back way back decided to give Kalbi-Ya lunch a try.

I don't tend to go too bonkers with franchise family style yakiniku shops because the meat is rarely top grade.  So my cheap butt went for the 680 yen yakiniku lunch set.

Lots of sauces and spicy Korean paste.

This was the entire lunch combo... no salad, no kimchee, no pickles and no tea. So at 680 yen stripped of what normally comes with yakiniku lunch then this wasn't much of a deal at all.

3 selections...  Chicken, Pork and Kalbi.

The grill must have been charcoal because with every splash of fat the flames went nuts.

Little packets of garlic.

Overall the of course the chicken and pork was tender but the kalbi was tough tough.  

Picked up another camera! Lumix GM1 but the zoom ring is a bit not foodie friendly so will go back to using my Sony RX100 or a combo of both.  Oh well...

YUTENJI: M's Grill and Bar for a client Bonenkai (Year End Dinner) and this night Hokkaido King Crab!

And we are back over a year later!  With most of the same crew from our last adventure into this wonderful little tiny treasure of a restaurant in Yutenji!  One stop from Nakameguro.

Here it is! It arrived mid-way through dinner... didn't snap away until everyone had a few beers and wouldn't mind me and 2 camera.

Not much of a wine drinker but this Beaujolais was quite smooth.

Oh my goodness this crab was so good.... only have it once a few years.

Seafood curry with lots of spices... very very flavorful.

Grilled tender pork

Again not a wine guy but another super smooth wine... Clasico Valle Central.

Slices of melty grilled cheese... Gorgonzola flavor.

OMG.... Uni Pasta... even better when dipping toasted bread.

The chef said he was lucky to source a Hokkaido crab as most come from Russia... If you have a few bucks definitely call in advance for a crab dinner.   It most varies as to what the chef can find in Tsukiji fish market.
