AKATSUKA: Menya Inoko... what a line but its just a very Yokohama-ie-kei style ramen.

Last weekend I rode past this ramen spot with quite a line and just had to go back the following weekend.

At 1:35pm the line was winding down... must have waited about 15 min.

The shop closes at 2pm so if you arrive late and this red curtain is lowered then they are officially closed.

You get a free bowl of rice with lunch orders... got their smallest size but white rice with no toppings can get boring quick.  Maybe you can mix this into the soup after you finish?

The waitress recommended the 1,080 yen shoyu ramen filled to the brim with toppings but my main target was the soup and noodles... don't really need to get stuffed on toppings.

Ordered the basic shoyu ramen with a seasoned boiled egg for 880yen.  Oh you can either go for the thin noodles (hosomen) or the slightly thick noodles (chu-futomen)... I went for the latter.

The charsiu pork was so extremely tender!  Yum...

The red curtain was removed at 2pm

Overall this type of ramen is totally Yokohama-Iekei style so I don't think it quite necessary to travel so far to a spot thats way too far from any station...  Once was enough but very curious about their shrimp flavored ramen.

MUSASHI SAKAI: Tokyo Miso Ramen Uzura... this is one fantastic bowl of miso ramen with thick noodles. (SONY RX100)

A super long walk from Hoya station to Kichijoji but on the way my ramen connoisseur  friend suggested we make a detour to Musashi Mitaka.

He said the hiyashi-chuka summer only special was to die for... as soon as it cools down they will stop serving the dish this year.

As I am not too into cold noodles I went for the shop specialty Miso Ramen with egg.

You can upgrade your noodles to Oomori (extra large portion) for free.

The miso soup had a very deep flavor with little bit of oil floating on the surface.

Noodles so pefectly chunky chewy... totally prefer this to thin ramen noodles.

This charsui was so incredibly tender and had the texture of roast beef. So Yum!

Overall this place was just too perfect with so many regulars on Obon Holiday Tuesday at 2pm. Run by young husband and wife team who seem to be expecting in a few months.  You gotta go!!

KAMIITABASHI: Hungry Heaven's moved... and no longer are the burgers or service amazing. (SONY RX100)

If I can't goto the Meguro branch I try to bike it about 30 min to this location thats a bit closer to home. My first visit after they moved from the previous cozy location to new larger spot in front of the train station.

The weekday menu includes a burger of your choice (prices vary depending on topping), a drink of your choice and a side (again will vary as you go heavy on the sides). You basically get a free drink.

My ginger ale... the glass got noticeably smaller.

Boom my 1,100 yen chili burger was massive... but first time ever in my life I see chickpeas in the Mexican chilli... isn't this traditional in Indian curry?  Seemed so out of place.

A few bites and I honestly got bored.  No longer was the patty fat and juicy, the chili mediocre at best and there was something very salty to this monstrosity.   Gone are the days of delicious juicy burgers made with heart...  this is simply a shop churning out burgers to lines of customers as there no burger alternatives in the area.

I won't be back and do long for the days of the old Hungry Heaven.  Oh their Kona Brewing Co. Beers were an astounding 900 yen per bottle.. oh the insanity.
