ROPPONGI HILLS: Afuri's Sweet Chilled Dipping Noodles... hmm... not my favorite.

Never tried Afuri's "Ama Tsuyu Tsukemen" but I a huge fan of dipping noodles so why not.

The pork grill

The sweet dipping noodle soup came out chilled.

Noodles they used were different from the regular ramen... I asked for Atsumori "Hot Noodles" (normally its rinsed off in cold water to keep the texture at the perfect al'dente-ness).  But the noodles came out warm and once it hit the cold soup it was just lukewarm.

At the end ask for Soup-wari and they give you a tiny container of noodle boiled water to add to the remaining Tsukemen soup...

Overall very dissapointed in the chilled broth, the noodles and overall flavor.  I guess when at Afuri order the regular ramen.

OMOTESANDO: The 3rd Burger... feshly ground Ozzie beef into a tiny satisfying goodness~

Just happened to be walking past The 3rd Burger in Omotesando and the price points were not so bad... burgers begin at 390yen up to 640yen (think you can also order extra toppings).

Menu up on huge monitors.

Fresh Australian Beef cut up and ground up for the burgers.

Went with the Avocado Wasabi Burger 594yen.  The give you a little buzzer just like the US... just goto the counter after the thing starts to light up and vibrate.

Very spacious with table seating, large sharing table and comfy cushion type seats along the wall.

There it is!  Overflowing with fresh lettuce.

The texture reminded me of The Great Burger in Harajuku.  It was just very satisfying... a step above McD's and a rank below the popular Japanese burger joints.

I'm sure to be back but honestly probably skip all the toppings and go for the basic burger that has its own special sauce.  Think as you add more topping it starts to approach the prices of better burger shops in Tokyo that offer bugger burgers.

IKEBUKURO: Sushi Izakaya Koike for the ultimate 2,980 yen all you can drink and eat EVERYTHING!

So Koike and its sister izakaya's all over Tokyo started this new campaign.  All you can eat... not a set course but all you can eat ANYTHING off the entire menu!  Ugh... disaster.

Of course we each order this massive set of sushi... normally 1,500yen or so.

All kinds of drinks on the menu... mind you my friend kept ordering food so I get barely get my drink on.

This I didn't touch... its kinda like stinky squid.

I was absolutely stuffed... I don't think I really want to do that again especially with friends that want to order everything on the menu.  But if you love Japanese food then this is probably the very best way to explore alot of the basic items that are on most Izakaya menu's!  Give it a try!

GAIENMAE: Isomiya Tempura... mom and pop shop left me all greasy~

I occasionally go exploring during lunch and away from any major roads in a somewhat residential area there stood this tiny Tempura shop that was filled with lunch goers.  Had to give it a try!

The menu.  Seems most people were going for the regular tempura set or the ten-don (tempura bowl)

Sat at the counter shoulder to shoulder with an older 50's clientele.

900yen!  It took a little while for this to arrive because of the lunch rush. The elderly husband was making the tempura and his wife grabbed the hot tempura with her hands and placed them on the plates.  Must be sooooo hot... ouch.

A direct view of the chef at work.

1 piece of Shrimp and 1 fish...mostly veggies.  Even a tiny corn tempura.

Free tea.

After my lunch I just felt super greasy... I guess its a hit and miss sometimes.
