NEW MARUNOUCHI BLDG: 7th Anniversary HOUSE Event! Foodies and DJ's~

Its back the annual amazing event at Posh Shin-Marunouchi Bldg with some awesome DJ's: Nigo, Ilmari, Verbal... Teriyaki Boys!  All you can eat and 3 drink tickets for 3,000yen TONIGHT!!

HIROO: PATISSERIE Meidi-Ya Cake corner... Strawberry Short Cake. BDAY TIME!

Lost and confused in Hiroo when it comes to Birthday cakes so off to Meidi-Ya to try my luck!

There's a tiny unstaffed corner with a few cakes and some smaller cake slice selections... nobody to be found manning this tiny spot.   Waved down a friendly register lady and here we go!

If you are ever lost in cake selections this is the standard one to buy... normally called a "Short Cake" its a vanilla cake with cream and slices of strawberries.  Probably the best seller in Japan.  Seems the place is so small they only have 1 of each cake.

1/3 vanilla cake, 1/3 whip cream and 1/3 strawberries for 3,400yen.  I kinda prefer a hot apple pie with vanilla ice cream on top but at the request of my Japanese friends this was the Birthday cake of choice.

HIROO: Emporium Family Restaurant at the New Sanno Hotel... Tips means great service!!

It was time for a family dinner with relatives visiting from Hawaii... my Uncle is a retired Navy fighter pilot so we all got entry into the New Sanno Hotel thats reserved for active US Military and veterans.

A very vast menu with lots of American favorites.. Enchilada, Ribs, Lasagna, Spinach Dip, New York Style Reuben, Buffalo Wings~

Special Dinner menu

The kids menu was only $4.99 and it came out immediately!  Just after the free tap water and before our beverages arrived.  The little guy already started on his spaghetti with meatballs!

Not since Boston have I had a Samuel Adams... so happy.  $3.50

Salad or Japanese Pumpkin soup comes with the entree's.

HUMMUS!  The deal of the entire evening...

Not too bad for $4.95

Spinach Dip with artichokes and melty cheese was a hit.

My $29.95 six ounce Filet Mignon that I accidentally ordered as Medium vs Medium Rare... I was in tears.

BBQ Salmon $17.95

Our table also ordered the Lasagna that was a hit with the kids... just like back in the US.  Also the very first time I've ever had San Francisco's very own Anchor Steam Beer... these guys need to start importing this to Tokyo! Super smooth and so easy to drink.  Overall this is a very cozy family style American restaurant and our waiter Kazu was so incredibly attentive to our table... he always had an eye our on our water, empty plates and calmed the kids when they started going bonkers.  If you are lucky enough to have a friend in the military definitely hit The New Sanno Hotel up for a neat variety of shops. Oh, 15% tip is added for parties of 6 or more.

HIROO: SUTTER's General Store for 50 cent Chocolate Chip Cookies! I used a dollar in Tokyo!

This place only accepts dollars!  And I only needed 1 to get two of the big chocolate chip cookies :)

What! Samuel Adam's only $1.30 each.

Starbucks Frappuccino!  $2.50 each and not available in any Japanese supermarket.

Ben and Jerry's!  Oh my...

It was just so American to enjoy a few Chocolate Chip cookies in a land where you there are no Mrs. Fields cookies shops... the best you can do in Tokyo are Krispy Kreme or Mr. Donuts.  I really enjoyed my short few hours at the New Sanno Hotel lobby eating my cookies.

NAKAMURABASHI: Kappa Sushi... new items at this 108yen Kaiten Sushi Franchise! Nice~

I normally use the touch screen panel to scan thru the items but never realized Kappa had so many different items on the menu... it was an empty 4pm when I arrived and sat in a spacious booth.

It was so relaxing... hardly anyone here on a Monday.

When I sit down I usually start with the a Tuna roll... only 108yen.

Flame torched salmon with mayo... Not a huge fan of raw salmon but this was melty soft.  Did you know there are two types of salmon? One you can eat raw and the other that needs to be grilled?

Lots of "NEW" items... mostly rolls.

This was one of the best pics of the day... lots of tuna topped with a recent fad "spicy rayu sesame oil chili sauce" that was a bit overbearing but interesting concept.

Free hot Green Tea all day long~

Super spacious with over 100 tables.

Very few customers means everything is made to order... so the belts are pretty much empty.

Register online and you can win up to 500yen!

Sushi Origami... neat.

Country origin import data on all the ingredients and fish used here.

This place never really awesome but you just can't beat the cost performance price point of 108yen for 2 pieces of Sushi.  I always find myself craving just a few dishes and usually never go over 5-6.

This CAT seems to be some kind of Nakamurabashi Town symbol... he's everywhere.

And I leave you with a Kappa Sushi Commercial... the song is catchy.
