HARAJUKU: TGIFridays... July special Thursdays event. 2,000 yen all you can eat, drink plus DJ's! (Canon G9X)

Randomly walked past TGIF in Harajuku a few weeks ago and noticed a very super amazing sign... all you can eat, drink plus DJ's for only 2,000 yen.  Wow... I had to go!   https://www.shibukei.com/headline/13255/

The theme was red but if you didn't have any red they were handing out scarfs. 

DJ was very ho-hum... music selection was off trend.

There were about 5 food selections but the chefs were making them non-stop.  Of course my absolute favorite in a town that lacks Buffalo Wings... the buffalo bites!  YUM... 

Burgers, buffalo chicken wings, buffalo bites, mozzarella sticks and potato wedges on the menu.

Quite busy with a very mixed crowd from college student to salary men to even a few elderly ladies.

Then the Bartender Show started... 

Random friendly folks that invited me to join their table.

Overall what a deal... time was from 6-10pm with a 2 hour limit but nobody was checking and you could stay for 4 hours if you wanted.  Friendly staff and comfort US food. Can't go wrong!  Also go for the 50% off drinks happy hour til 7pm.

HARAJUKU/KITA-SANDO: American Club House Hi Daddy for a wonderful Roast Beef lunch and 80's on the BGM!

Yesterday I spotted a very trendy fashionable group of people exiting American Club House and thought it was time to give this basement establishment a try.

Located right across from BAPE Nigo's Human Made shop.

Daily special Chicken Sauté with Curry Cream Sauce.  Also spare ribs, Japanese style sirloin steak, sea food curry, beef curry, tuna and tomato pasta and the one I got... Plate Lunch with Roast Beef!

The menu... drinks are 150yen extra

2 proper elderly chefs.  

Interior was very cozy.

Can see the tops of the chefs cap over the counter.

Thats my plate.   Hot butter fresh bread, miso soup, cabbage with Japanese dressing, 2 cuts of sweet egg, a little potato salad and some tender roast beef.

When I stepped in I heard Pet Shop Boys!... then Phil Collins - Don't Lose My Number, then Gloria Estefan, Prince... full on 80's.  Rare BGM in Tokyo and very nice.

I arrived at their 11:45 open and had the entire place to my self but at arond 12:10pm the crowd started flowing in and sounds of people asking for ashtrays began.  I'm not a fan of smokers during lunch so if you want to give it a try I suggest avoiding the peak lunch hour between 12-1pm.

But I'll be back to give the spare ribs a try!

AKABANEBASHI: Towers 188 Restaurant Reception... 250 guests... capacity of 35... Cops swarming due to overflow. A disaster near Tokyo Tower.

Was invited to what seemed like an great event for a pre-open reception of an American style vintage restaurant themed "Guy foods that go well with Beer."  Lamb Chili, fried foods marinated in Brooklyn Lager and home made Ketchup.  I was all in!

So we arrived at 8pm to an absolute mad house.  This restaurant can comfortably accommodate 35 people with both standing and table seating in the very back but their Facebook invite with over 250 people was insane.  A solid 20-30 minutes just to order a drink and the little food they served was swarmed by the few people just hanging out near the tiny kitchen area.

What kind of retard would invite 250 people to fit in this TINY SPACE is beyond me!

Opening reception and charging everyone 500yen for watered down drinks.  

The draft beer was sold out by 8pm.

This is just the partial overflow outside... a squad of 5-6 Japanese police officers and squad cars was enough for most of the guest to leave.  Poorly planned and poorly executed.  I will NEVER return to Towers 188 again.  There are way too many great restaurants to support in Tokyo.

The highlight of the evening... Towers 188 is located in the shadows of Tokyo Tower and between Aston Martin Tokyo and another exotic sports car shop with several SLS AMG  Ferrari 458.
