NERIMA: TenTen Standing Izakaya... nothing special but easy 300yen items with no "Otoshi" fee.

If you have a little time to kill then this might be a good spot just for a short period of time.  The food was mediocre at best but its just easy...

Buy some pre-paid 300yen tickets from the machine...

Select your items and pass it along t the chef.

Yakitori selections... nothing impressive.

Motsu Nikomi....

Service was friendly but I'll probably never return... Just an FYI post if you need to have a quick beer or just to get out of the rain.

KAMIITABASHI: Hitomoto Ishidaya Bakery - Popular pastry shop with Brownies! Yum~

I'm a huuuuuge fan of Brownies and those great Walmart $1-2 brownie mixes helped me put on a few too many kilo's last summer.  But its so rare to find brownies in Tokyo and even rarer for walnut topped brownies.  Definitely recommend this spot... there are so many other cakes and sweets here too.

A Solid 3.56pt foodie ranking!  Pictures of other items: http://tabelog.com/tokyo/A1322/A132203/13003807/dtlphotolst/1/
AND! If you are in the area why not hit up some amazing burgers at Hungry Heaven.

EKODA: Shamaim Israeli Restaruant... a little treasure in the burbs of Tokyo

I'm the biggest fan ever of Hummus but its soooo hard to find it in Tokyo and when you do the hours are normally whacky or the location is a bit out of the way... but after having past Shamaim シャマイム several times during lunch with no luck they were randomly open today!  Lucky or perhaps I've been there on off days.  Yippee!

It was just a very very nice dark cozy atmosphere... totally relaxing.

On the BGM when I entered... Shoef K'mo Evod by Yasmin Levy

I was here for the Falafel Set that included Hummus, Pita Bread, Salad and a small spicy green dish.
I definitely have to hit up the Belly dance Show :)

It was just a beautiful sight... its just been too long since I've had Hummus or Falafel.

I've only had these items as an adult so my review will probably be off... but the falafel had a great crunch on the outside and tasty in the middle.

This salad was amazing and sooo crunchy... the tomatos seemed a bit stewed and had a nice kick.

Loved this spice... wish I knew what it was.

2 Pita's.

Israeli beer Maccabee for 735yen.

Shop has been featured on so many magazines...

Dinner is gold... for 2,100yen its all you can eat... wow... not too bad.

The guy pictured here was the waiter/chef, friendly and great service.  I was just totally satisfied with my meal and made it a point to eat very slowly as to enjoy the great food and great music on the BGM.  I will definitely be back and you should give it a try!  Only 8 minutes from Ikebukuro and about 30min from Roppongi (via 1 transfer).  For Tokyo's Middle Eastern Foodie Ranking click HERE.

SAKURADAI: MenYa MaruYoshi Shoten Ramen... Veggies! Fat Noodles!! The Volume!!!

I've passed Maruyoshi 麺処 まるよし商店 soooo many times on my way to Seiyu (Japan's Walmart) and have never not seen a line here... but luckily at a rainy 1:30pm I managed to sneak in without waiting at all!

When you enter an ice cold Japanese tea awaits you... The main ramens are Tanmen 680yen (Regular Size or Medium Size) or AkaTama Tanmen 780yen with a big round ball of red spice as a topping.  Plus 100yen for large portion or minus 30yen for the small portion ramen.  Oh, they also have Tsukemen.

Little window where the ramen comes out.

100yen for Smoked Flavored Egg~.

I think the theme of this ramen shop is very retro... perhaps Japan in the 40-50's?

No Smoking!  I love this sign...

Very old skool songs on the BGM.  銀座の恋の物語

The Chef looked like he was in his sixties... probably the reason for these older songs back when Japan was in its bubbly heyday of the 70-80's.

Chef in the back hard at work.

Wow... all this for 680yen... phew.  I went with the normal (nami) volume of noodles vs medium (chu) both 680yen.

It was just a mountain of stir fried veggies... It was almost if I had a dish of Chinese stir fry and Ramen but since he ran out of plates he just put on one top of the other.  Volume was huuuuge!

I selected the Futomen (think noodles) vs Hosomen (thin noodles) and was the perfect choice... the texture and chewiness to perfection.  Not the monster thickness that is Ramen Jiro which is perfect for lunch.

Tiny pieces of mini dried shrimp and tiny pieces of pork... I've never seen them so itty bitty.

Counter seating for 5... in the back there is a table for 4 but its used as "Ai-Seki" (meaning you will be sharing the table with strangers if the counter is full).

My view looking up... little spinny things... was soothing.

A few toppings... sesame seed, fried tempura chips and they had fresh garlic too.

Overall a really great spot with friendly service from the lady/wife(?) in her 50's or so who patiently explained the menu to me.  I'll definitely be back on an empty stomach because it sure was filling!  You gotta go!
