OKINAWA NAHA: Tsuji Supermarket with a very budget bento and condiments corner. Plus my fav UCC Black Milk Tea! (Sony RX100)

 

Went to my favorite Mexican Taco spot right next door to Tsuji SUpermarket and just stopped by to pick up my favorite UCC Black Milk Tea thats exclusive to Okinawa.

All kinds of bento`s for only 300 yen.

My Fav!  If in Okinawa please give this tea a try.

I`m a huge fan of Spam Musubi but it was kinda meh here... maybe the regular 300 yen bento`s are much better.  Great to support little local supermarkets.  Oh, this is in Okinawa`s very red light district thus I think its open 24 hours to serve both day and night customers.

OKINAWA NAHA MAEJIMA: (Closing for demolition on Jan 31, 2024) Union Supermarket! The Bento section was packed with after work locals! Cheap! (Lumix TZ60)

With almost everything shut down in Naha there were few options to pick up some dinner. SO! My first Grocery Store entry is UNION!  A local supermarket to the islands. 

You can always find Spam or the beloved Tulip branded luncheon meat!  Perfect for Goya Champuru...

Spam only 257 yen! Only in Okinawa.  In Tokyo it averages around 500-600 yen a can. Unless you work at Itochu Corporation and score a can for 300 yen at their HQ on those employee sale days.

Lots of locals and even elderly ladies shopping in this bento section. 

Cheap cheap!

The top portion of the building is all residential but super old.  I don`t think anyone lives up there anymore.  

One of my Must eats when visiting Okinawa... taco rice!  BUT!  The flavoring of the beef was kinda bland and not as good as the one at Kanehide Supermarket.

This is the Kanehide version... the minced beef is soooo flavorful!  GOTTA TRY! And the salsa sauce has a little kick to it. 

When in Okinawa... Squid Tempura for sure!

BUT. Tiny sliver of Ika hidden in this massive tempura.  Ho hum. 

And another Okinawan standard... Juushiii rice in a Onigiri style. Yum. 

Leave you with that day`s sunset with a typhoon lurking around.  If you want a great super cheap bento option to have at the beach or your hotel room definitely check out Union Supermarket Maejima branch thats conveniently located minutes from Miebashi Monorail Station.  GOGO!  Support local businesses my friends.

FYI: After 50 years this building has been with Typhoons and structure will be demolished early next year.  Last day of operations is January 31, 2024. But it will be rebuilt!

ROPPONGI AZABU JUBAN: LINCOS produced by Maruetsu Supermarket for a few beers~

After having some lackluster burnt pizza's at CONA Pizzeria in Azabu Juban we ready for a few beers at LINCOS...

There are 4 round tables located right outside the supermarket that can be used between 7am and 10pm.

Friend bought some cherries from home... the guys had a few Lowenbrau's brewed by Asahi.

The girls bought over some Starbucks from next door. Its really a great space overlooking the entrance to Azabu Juban shopping district... perfect for people watching.  If you are ever in need of a simple spot to drink some budget beers this is a  nice option.
