OIZUMIGAKUEN: Covid19 restrictions is over! Kushikatsu Agekko cozy izakaya with a friendly Bilingual Chef. (Sony RX100)

Our 6th Covid19 wave in Japan slowly came to and end and all restaurant restrictions were lifted in late March.  So no more last order at 8pm!

Not the biggest fan of Kushikatsu as it can be very greasy... lots of very inexpensive items on the menu.
Most expensive item was the 250 yen gyu-beef and shrimp followed by 200 yen asparagus.

Premium Malts and Whisky Hi-Balls 390 yen.

The otoshi here is cabbage in a bowl with kushikatsu sauce.

A view of the kitchen from my counter seat.

Pieces were rather small... went well with the drinks though.

Bruno Mars on the BGM!  Had a great selection of songs playing.

Lunch items.

300 yen Moyashi bean sprouts.

300 yen Edamame.

Sasami Chicken Breast 120 yen..  tiny.

Counter seating for about 7-8 people plus a few small tables for 2.

The best part of this spot was the super friendly female chef and the young staff.  The Chef is an American that has been living in Japan for 16 years... here Japanese was unusually good.  If are new to town and or miss speaking a bit of English definitely check this place out!  Its more about the atmosphere here rather than the quality of food.
Final weekend for sakura cherry blossom spotting!

Nice Porsche GT3!

Shakuji Park... in full bloom!

EBISU: Kushi-Tei...cozy, friendly, PRICEY! Doh...

Met up with a great friend I met during my MBA and some of his business colleagues from the DBJ http://www.dbj.jp/en/ ... asked where and what time.  One of the few occasions that I don't plan the evening :)

I arrived about 30 minutes late and boom... this arrived. HUGE sticks of kushi asparagus sticks...

5 types of dipping sauces...

This evenings Otoshi (automatic appetizer) was fresh chilled veggies.

Some tasty Motsu-nikomi...

Beers start from 600yen... sake from 700yen for a glass... and we never slowed down the entire evening.

And so 4 guys... 3 hours... 27,000yen!  Once again we managed to spend about $300 between the 4 of us. Our last adventure at Suju Dining had the same outcome: http://tokyobelly.blogspot.jp/2013/02/shibuya-hikarie-suju-dining-smooth.html

No shoes inside the restaurant but when we left there were al lined up.  Overall it was a really great spot very near Ebisu Station (about a block from http://whatthedickens.jp/ live British pub).  Service was quick and super friendly, food great great using excellent ingredients but be ware if you are a drinker the tab will blow up on ya here...  I won't be back but definitely recommend it to anyone.
