SHIMBASHI: Sakana-Gosho-Kodama seafood izakaya... EVERYTHING was GREAT! Opened on June 6th.. my fathers bday. (Sony RX100)

Only the 2nd time I have ever seen a QR Code ordering system in Japan.

The automatic Otoshi appetizer aka table charge.  Its been about 3 weeks since my visit and the only thing I remember was yum.

Some ladies across from us were eating this... of course we pointed. Oyster cream corokke

Perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy inside... so good.

Hoppy Time!  Zero % alcohol beer mixed with shochu.

Tempura moriawase (set).  Fish, oyster and veggies.

Add a little seasoned salt for flavor

Fresh clam with a squeeze of lemon.

I have a few regular drinking friends and they all prefer different kinds of alcohol.  This night we shifted from beers to chilled white wine.  Was a nice change of pace. 

If you notice in Japan most waiters don`t tower over you while taking your order. Instead they will kneel down so they are looking either up at you or at eye level. 

There is also counter seating near the entrance. 

Overall this place is just fantastic.  Food was amazing, service spot on and the interior was very comfy.  It was definitely a full house so either make a reservation in advance or put your name down and wait for the next available table... Go goooooo!

Shimbashi on a Friday night... Covid is offically over boys.  Every restaurant was FULL!

Luckily we were able to reserve a restaurant for 8pm but had 30 minutes to kill.  Ended up at Korean Yatai Dan standing bar.

From what I could see everything on the menu was 500 yen.

Edamame 500 yen.

Kimchee Radish blocks 500 yen.

Korean Chanja 500 yen... I absolutely love this at Kura Sushi.

At Kura Sushi they place it on top of the rice... sooo good. Its a bit sweet and spicy.

I noticed the manager had really pronounced features and was a bit tan.... after a little chit chat Iasked if he was Okinawan. He was! But raised in mainland Japan... very nice guy. He was the only staff until 8pm when a cute part time waitress went on shift.  Anyways its an easy place to get in without reservation.

KICHIJOJI: Tachinomi (Standing/Drinking) Banpaiya Izakaya! Newly Opened... friendly staff and such a budget menu! (Sony RX100)

In April I randomly wandered into Banpaiya Nogata Branch and the menu is soooo incredibly reasonable.  That staff was very attentive and the female manager was amazing... BUT! I went back a few weeks later and the staff was totally different.  Service went down hill.

I received a flyer about their Kichijoji branch opening up on May 1st.. had to go!

I spotted the Nogata Manager! Later talked to her and said she moved to this new location!

110 yen Ara-Jiru fish soup. Lots of bones and meat but very flavorful!

150 yen for fried Aji-Fry fish and corrokke... the value!

Drink Menu on the wall.  Red wine 330 yen. Seems the 490 yen draft beer is the most expensive.

There is seating on the 2nd floor plus the restroom... just walk up the stairs.

A whole pot of simmering tender motsu nikomi.

Always love the tender motsu nikomi... this time with one boiled egg.

Egg with stinky fermented beans called nato... this is not for me. 

More stinky beans... eewwww. But incredibly healthy!

One very very unique thing about this izakaya in Harmonica Yokocho is that they have their own restroom on the 2nd floor.  Soooo nice not to have to walk to the public toilet. 

1st floor all counters with a few little tables. 

About 2 hours later... the bill for 3 came out to 5,000 yen.  The food was just so incredibly cheap. 

The shop name Banpaiya (Vanpire) translates as Late Night Drinking Spot.... any bilinguals in here to confirm?  Please leave a message...Domo!
