AKASAKA: Ogo Ono-loa Hawaii for Plate Lunch! Owner Chef Ryoji has move to Hawaii but Japanese Chef keepin it real.

Its probably been a few years since I last visit Ogo's in Akasaka.  Since 2006 this place was always the go to place with my Hawaii grad school mates.

Scene never changes... located in a building full of hostess bars.

Went for 2 selection combo plate with Poke and Kalua Pic 1,200 yen then you can get a drink and haupia for only 100 yen extra.  Sorry didn't take a pic of the lunch menu.

At first the volume looked a bit low but it sure was a struggle to finish everything.  The poke yum... kalua pig yum.... and the macaroni salad super yum!  There is something very comforting about Hawaiian food at Ogos.

Poke!

Hawaiian Pepper Firewater produced by Ogo's was perfectly balanced with just enough spiciness and flavor. Used it for my pork.

Poke sat on a bed of seaweed furikake.

Long timer Akiko-san was still here.  If are from Hawaii or really want authentic Hawaiian food in Tokyo this is the ONLY place to go!  My previous visits: http://tokyobelly.blogspot.jp/search?q=ogo

IKEBUKURO: Oosu Nichome Sakaba... 880 yen 2 hours nomihoudai is still alive and kickin! The cheapest drinks ever?

And we are back!  If you like to drink budget Japanese Nihonshu or Shochu then this all you can drink self serve spot is just right for you...

The automatic appetizer... hmm..

The all you can drink menu... After the 1st beer I totally forgot about ordering from here. Was just totally immersed in this small hallway of huge sake bottles.

Self service area.

Later this night this entire section would be occupied by St. Paul Rikkyo University students.

Garlic butter edamame... tasty.

Gyoza very uneventful as it was mostly cabbage.

Hokke Fish is HUGE... a must order.

Now the rule to the 880 yen 2 hour all you can drink nomihoudai is that each person must order at least 2 dishes... gotta be careful on this as the final price for dinner can be higher then you planned.

Of all the bottles my friend said this was the most premium shochu... stuck with this.

Fried octopus... a bit soggy.

Buta Pork Kimchee stir fry... tasty.

And the university students arrive.... must have been a good 50-60 of them.

In total came out to about 2,300 per person... thats around what we could score for a great Groupon dinner.

Overall if your main motive is to drink then 880yen with careful selection of cheaper appetizers can probably get you out the door for only 1,500 yen.

KICHIJOJI: When craving Taco Rice the only place to goto in Tokyo is Hamonica Quina!

In Kichijoji and wanted something quick and easy... I'm a huge fan of Okinawan Taco Rice but its such a rarity here in Tokyo.  Quina specializes in only Taco Rice... been here forever.

Should have gotten this... Drink and food for 1,000 yen.

Of course! Orion Beer!

The lettuce topping was soooo crispy fresh.   Its just simple taco meat on a bed of rice with some cheddar cheese.   Not too bad.

Two university girls were next to me and had a light chat... Tokyo is always friendly.
