EBISU: Sushi Go-Round Restaurant Ganso Sushi... cheap really reflects on the quality of fish.

Always always wanted to try this sushi spot in Ebisu but I usually get my sushi fix at Sushi Zanmai in Tokyo. http://tokyobelly.blogspot.jp/search?q=sushi+zanmai

Lots of great super cheap price points!

95 yen for "reasonably priced fatty tuna" called Service Toro (specially priced).

It was about 30 minutes to closing so not many sushi plates on the belt... but this can be a good thing as you can order freshly made direct from the sushi chefs.

One look at the tuna and this was full on supermarket style... the color was just a light pink and for sure recently frozen.  Honestly in Japan you really do get what you pay for.

Bottled and draft beers for 500 yen.  Great deal on crab, seaweed and clam miso soup for only 120 yen.

If you need extra wasabi just say "wasabi kudasai."

Lots of interesting things going round and round.

If you are craving sushi on a budget why not.  But I definitely won't be back here.

EBISU: Ebisu Yakiniku Kintan! I'm back for the Harami Lunch Set! Free refills on everything

Its sooooo hard to get a seat here during lunch but got lucky to sit at a reserved table... only allowed to stay there 1 hour before the group arrived.

Most basic lunch set is only 1,000 yen.  I tried this last time.

But today I wanted to go for the Harami... its the same meat used at Gou Stand.

Rice, soup and salad is all you can eat.

You can select between white rice or 16 grain rice.

There it is! Must have been about 10 slices.

Overall my colleague and I both agreed... the Harami used at Gou Stand was much better.

Closed with the inclusive strawberry dessert.

Lots of meats on display at the entrance. If in Ebisu you should give this place a try for lunch!  I has a huge female following that can only mean one thing in Japan... its very good.

KAMI ITABASHI: Tokyo Ramen Ooban. Could ramen be any worse? Unlucky me...

My main motive to goto this far off location was Hungry Heavens brand new burger shop (the moved locations in this town).  But the line was 30 deep at 2pm and nah... I just couldn't wait.

Roaming around this town and smelled something rather stinky... not just bad stinky but a kind of addictive stinky that I have only smelled at a ramen shop in Kumamoto. OK! 500 yen ramen and stinky?  I'm in!

Lots and lots of items on the menu but had to try the Ramen with the mini braised pork belly rice bowl.

Ramen starts at a very friendly 500 yen and this shop was filled with high school students and some families with little children.  Prices go up with toppings but base ramen is the same.

Some daily manager specials written on the white board.

My view for the afternoon.  Counter seating but there were several tables.

First the mini kakuni-don bowl arrived.  Flavor was there but definitely not the great stuff you can find at an Okinawan restaurant like Tachibin: http://tokyobelly.blogspot.jp/2018/01/koenji-tachibin-okinawan-restaurant.html

And the ramen arrives! What is the first thing I always do?  Yup I try the soup first off.  It was bland!  What happened to the stinky smell that lured me in?  Another scoop and it was bland! I was soooo disappointed.

Then a bit of the ramen noodes.  Ugh. Over cooked and mushy.  Oh man.  The waitress was a friendly Chinese lady and in the back I could see another middle aged Chinese lady chef.  There was really no heart in this bowl and simply a fast food franchise shop that has a stunning location just a few steps fro the train station.

Bad bad bad.... I don't do it often but left most of the noodles and tried my best to enjoy the boiled bean sprouts and bland soup.  If in Tokyo don't let a sign that says "Tokyo Ramen" lure you in!
