OAYAMA: The best Torikizoku ever! And I learned its a Franchise location rather than company owned. Chicken was fantastic! Super friendly staff. (Sony RX100, iPhone Xs)

Ive been taking the occasional walks to Oyama for a bit of exercise and after my 1st visit to Oyama Torikizoku I decided to stop by again for just 3 items... my budget 1,080 yen.

Push blue button to start your order.  Staff needs to activate the tablet menu first.

Lots of Yakitori items to order!

Mega Beer 360 yen.

Remember you can order free spices.

The manager on duty Suzuki-san gave me a little portion of Italian Salt... wow.

On the menu they provide normal salt.

Toriten (chicken tempura) with plum sauce... plus they gave me a little portion of chicken nanban tartar sauce.

This chicken was absolutely perfect... The cut of chicken was much bigger and the amount of tempura batter was just so much more.  Great crispy and chewiness to the batter.

Made to order! Super juicy.

4 Counter seats with views of the chef.

There is an outlet under the table.

There are very few rice options but this one hits the spot.

A mini yakitori bowl with a side of soup.

One of the chefs was from Niigata and he told me a little about the varieties of Niigata Uonuma Koshihikari and what is the best region.

Seasoned yakitori... tasty

This franchise is very selective with the kind of rice they use... not the standard inexpensive stuff most bento locations provide.

Japanese lesson. Whats Neko-Meshi?  Directly translated its Cat-Food. When you kinda mix random things in your soup but mostly rice.... I guess in the past families gave cats leftovers.

Staff offered me a cup of tea! Ive been going to Tokizoku for nearly 20 years and its the first time anyone offered me this.

Part timer Yuki who is studying finance at quite a prestigious university and the manager on duty Suzuki-san.  Everyone was just so incredibly friendly here.  I noticed that directly owned Torikizoku has more of a Southeast Asian staff and franchise mainly Japanese.

Overall this place was AMAZING!  They actually cut the raw chicken daily and the sizes were noticeably 1.5-2x bigger than any other branch I have been to .  If in Ikebukuro just hop on a train for 1 stop to Oyama!  Definitely worth it!!
