AKASAKA: Hayashi Sumiyaki Restaurant... its like being in a Japanese home from the past... wonderful grilled foodie experience.

Hayashi had soooo much old skool character... foods come out in small portions, each such an adventure and special.  Service spot on... waiter poured chilled Nihonshu in excess of the portion we ordered.  What a special place.

First is the automatic otoshi...

Wood charcoal is used

Garlic miso to add to your items.

Tiny salted and grilled Japanese potato.., and a rare treat, semi grilled very seasoned raw chicken.  This tasted fabulous.

There is a dipping sauce bowl... double dip is OK here!

Double dipped chicken meatballs.

Peel this nut like a pistachio... super chewy texture.

There was also grilled fish... a very delicate sweet flavor.

Our waiter over pouring our chilled Nihonshu... super cool guy.

Of course we take turns walking around pouring sake for each other.

Time for the MEAT!

Close with Onigiri Rice balls

Final final... Yuzu sorbet... or shave ice.

8 people... over 90,000 yen.  Its quite costly if you drink alot or perhaps this place is just expensive. But if its just for a special occasion then a must to take your visiting friends from abroad. Super cozy and old skool in such a busy concrete jungle that is Tokyo.  Loved it!
