SHINJUKU: Yakitori Saitama-Ya in Omoide-Yokocho (Memory Lane) with a very friendly Chef and Waitress~

Pilot friend wanted to check out one of the little shops along Shinjuku Omoide-Yokocho... walked up and down... didn't dare enter a spot that was empty... and ended up at Saitama-Ya due to the cool chef with a red bandana and shirt.

No draft beers here... Just bottle for 500yen.

Yakitori starts at 150yen each.

Bacon wrapped mini tomatoes are always a hit.

Glass of Imo-Jochu for 500yen.

This was our seat in the very back on the 1st floor... right under the cool air condition but since our group went from 4 to 5 people we headed upstairs and it was soooo much cooler.  Summers in Tokyo are harsh.

Who ordered grilled wieners?

Yama-kake Maguro... gotta order this wherever you go.  Mix in the wasabi and add a little shoyu...

The 2nd floor... very busy~

Now to head to the restroom... exit out the little door on the 1st floor.

Don't forget the Kanji written on the outside door when you return... restroom is a shared space between all these little shops down this tiny back street.

Now for a shot of the friendly Chef... he was cool about me asking for a photo.  If in the area I'd have to say this little shop is not a bad place to start.  But I'd highly avoid any spot that is empty.
