IKEBUKURO: Standing Bar Kihei... just a cozy old timer's hangout

Needed a spot to kill an hour and scanned the Ikebukuro standing bar rankings... this was at the top!

Lots of little home made dishes ranging from 200  to 300yen.

Japanese baseball draft on TV... Japan seems to mainly draft straight after high school.

Sake from 250yen~

Mug beers only 350yen... not too bad!  Guinness 450yen and Heineken 435yen.

Chef hard at work.

I went to use the restroom and saw this!  LOTS of alcohol... seems this shop is housed in the same building as a alcohol distributor.

First time too see stained glass in a rest room... very spacious.

Overall it was a nice cozy spot.  The owner is the only guy on staff and super friendly.  If you are in Ikebukuro I'd definitely recommend this spot for a few beers and some appetizers.

  1. What was the mug beer on draft? The appearance of the warehouse suggests it was primarily Asahi brews; so Asahi Super Dry?
In any bar offering Asahi, I ask if it has Asahi Stout (almost always in bottles), which is very good.
