IKEBUKURO: Yobocho for some great 1,000 yen western and Japanese lunch options! Very flavorful Hamburger steak lunch plate!! (Pixel 7 Pro)

 

I never have lunch in Ikebukuro but this day a few friends invited me out to give Yobocho a try!  There is a vending machine style dispenser so just put in your money and push the pictured lunch item you want.

The lunch options.  Give you ticket to the waitress then wait in line until a spot opens up on the counter or the few table seats.  You will be called on in order.

Counter seating! Quite the volume for 1,000 yen.  Tonjiru soup, hamburger steak and rice

Hamburger has a sunny side up egg on top and smothered in very flavorful sauce.

Misoshiru or Tonjiru... Tonjiru all day folks! 

And there were lots of veggies on the hot steel plate.

The hamburger steak on this hot skillet keeps grilling and grilling... I would suggest cutting it in half and placing it on the plate of rice. It started to get a bit over cooked.  FYI! But overall its a quick in and out spot in Ikebukuro. If you go in a small group there is a possibility you will sit separately.

KOENJI: Tokyo Kebab has one of the juiciest Kebabs in Tokyo! Friendly female chefs! Saw this spot on MilkyPuff Twitch stream.

I have walked by Tokyo Kebab in Koenji sooo many times but with all the foodie options in this town I just never bothered to try.  But after watching Milkypuff stream here on Twitch I thought I needed to try!

Rainy day but you can normally sit at these bottled beer containers.

I got the Avocado topping but was just the paste version and not fresh. BUT a few bites and this ting was soooo juicy! Mix spice sauce very flavorful... I gotta say this is one of the better Kebab spots in Tokyo!

I went back a week later for the standard kebab with pickles... There was so much mix sauce.  Im the type of person that eats something until Im tired of it... think my days are numbered here.

SHIMOMARUKO: Shinsō-en Chinese restaurant for a lunch I havent had in ages... Shrimp Chili! Or in JP its Ebi-Chili! (iPhone 12 Mini)

For some reason I dont goto little local Chinese restaurants but was in the area and a friend suggested we have lunch ere. 

Lots of Lunch Specials but I was all about the Ebi Chili Sauce for 1.100 yen that included fried rice, egg soup and a small sweet anin-dofu desert.

Here it is chat! The chili sauce has a slight hint of hot pepper but the shrimp was so plump! Fried rice super fluffy and really enjoyed it! Also the friendly waitress chatted us up and refilled our water multiple times... Tokyo is HOT!!  If in this area gotta goooo!
