OKINAWA NAHA: Akatombo (Red Dragonfly) Taco Rice and Tacos! When in Okinawa! (Sony RX100)

Taco's and Taco Rice in Okinawa can be pretty amazing... checked out the local foodie ranking and headed off to Akatomobo Mexican taco stall.

One large Taco Rice and one crispy Taco.

I'm a huge soft fried taco fan but this was really crispy and crumbled quickly.  Not my style.

A few bites of both and it was rather unmemorable...  The beef seemed something like the taco meat from Taco Bell and seasoning was just normal.  

Probably won't return to this spot anytime soon.

OKINAWA NAHA: Inaka Okinawan Soba... 390 yen! What a value and soooo much tender soki-spare ribs! (Sony RX100)

Always refer to Tabelog for foodie rankings and Inaka soba shop popped up as one of the most recommended... and the value!

Variety of items on the menu everyone during my short 20 minute stay ordered the 390 yen soki-soba.

BOOM!  3 pieces of tender Soki spare ribs.. the value at only 390 yen!  The meat was sooo tender and super tasty.  I can only guess there was around 200 grams of noodles... quite a bit.

You can add spicy red pepper sake seasoning... traditionally added to Okinawa Soba.

If in the amazing Naha Shopping Alley you gotta find this place!

OKINAWA TSUGAZAN CITY: Fujiya Okinawan Shave Ice at San-A Shopping Center... the local treat. (Canon S120)

When I think of Okinawan sweets its either Andagi Donuts or Shave ice... traditionally called Ice Zenzai that includes shave ice, semi-sweet azuki beans and round mochi balls.

Seems the staff is on a break... will be back soon.

And she is back!  

Always loved this but first time to try it as take out.  Its normally in a bowl with the beans and mochi balls below the shave ice.  Its kinda upside-down for the take-out versions.  BUT YUM!

A local favorite... if you spot a Zenzai Okinawan Ice Sweets shop you gotta go!

OKINAWA OMOROMACHI: Nanamakai Restaurant for their Okinawa Soba... a story behind this. (Canon S120)

A friend of mine who lives in Yaese Town about 20 minutes from Naha was a huge fan of a soba restaurant near his home.  The place was so popular that the owner decided close up and move to very competitive Naha City.   Okinawa soba prices rose and quality of ingredients fell to keep up with higher rents.. but he soon had to close up shop.

He now is borrowing a small kitchen space at his friends restaurant Nanamakai or 7-Makai to prepare his Okinawa soba. 

Interior was very nice... unlike most Okinawan soba shop.

It was a nice bowl of Soba.  Flavor very light.

Extra tender soki pork for 231 yen.

There are bands playing every Wednesday night here
